Day 232 – “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 12/18/2021. Groundhog Day here. More wiring, will it ever end. Steve had to dig a fourteen inch deep trench and pound two eight foot ground rods nine feet deep.
It is a muddy mess here again.
It would really pour and then the sun would come out. Then it would start again with the rain and sun. The outside electric service is completed.
Steve still has to cut seven holes in the siding and put in boxes for outside lights. The doorbells and smoke detectors also have to be roughed in. Then we can call the inspector. Hopefully, Tuesday morning. Bad timing though with the holidays.

Day 231 – “Living the Dream”. Friday, 12/17/2021. Christmas is fast approaching. The tree is fully decorated and the cards are ready to mail. It felt like Christmas day today.
I opened two boxes of packed shoes. What a treat – heels, heels, and more heels. I am so excited.
Wiring is progressing along nicely. The wire Steve is working with now is very tough to pull and there is a lot of grunting, groaning, and foul language coming from the basement.
But he is getting it done

Day 230 – “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 12/16/2021. Another milestone met. We passed the HVAC rough in inspection. Woohoo!! Steve worked on getting the outside service and meter done.
We are almost ready for the electrical rough in inspection. It was 70 today. Gorgeous day and now it is raining. A neighbor came by and introduced herself and invited us to come to the drive through nativity scene at her church.

Day 229 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 12/15/2021. Just another wiring day. HVAC inspector was unable to make it today. He is now on for tomorrow. Our trip to Pennsylvania resulted in a cracked windshield. A dump truck didn’t have its load covered and a rock flew out and hit our windshield. The Crack actually formed a few days later. Kentucky is one of four states where full glass coverage is mandatory. I put a claim in online and was linked over to Safelite. Safelite came out today with wrong windshield. They are coming again tomorrow. Did a little shopping for more electrical stuff
and saw the most beautiful sky paintings on the way home.

Day 228 – “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 12/14/2021. Worked on pulling wire
and setting up some Christmas decorations today.
We have to buy more extension cords to light up the trees by the front door.
How many extension cords can we have. It was a beautiful, sunny day in the 60’s. The car wash was hopping.
There is one thing about Kentuckians. They love and are proud of Kentucky. So many people wear clothing that say Kentucky. I never saw that in New Jersey – hmmm.

Day 227 – “Living the Dream”. Monday, 12/13/2021. Justin came over and helped clean the lower level of the home
and unload the truck.
By early afternoon we were on our way to return the truck. Justin stayed at the house to clean up all the stuff the wind blew around outside during Saturday’s storms. He also was waiting for the inspector. Steve wanted to fill the truck’s tank with diesel fuel at the truck stop north of us before returning it. I led the way using Google maps. Unbelievable, after 20 minutes we came to a tunnel that was 8 feet tall. Steve had to turn the truck around again. What is the chance of that happening two times in a few days. The inspector was a no show today. It appears he only does inspections on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We decided not to put our new Christmas tree up. We don’t want to upset the inspectors. Tomorrow I am going to buy a little tabletop one to put in the new house next to the recliner.

Day 226 – “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 12/12/2021. After a great night of sleep, we were up early and at Cracker Barrel. We did our normal sunday laundry and Lowes shopping. The HVAC rough in was completed while we were away and the inspector is coming on Monday.
Steve put in the dryer vent today since that is part of Monday’s inspection.
Nice warm day here.

Day 225 – “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 12/11/2021. We were up and out on the road by 4 am.
It was cold, dark, and rainy. It is amazing how many tractor trailers are on the highways that early in the morning.
It was a long day. We left at 4am and 16 hours later we were back at the Kentucky house. I drove the car and Steve followed in the truck. The only stops we made were for gas and rest rooms. The truck is so big that we could only stop at truck stops like Loves. It was nice that all the weigh stations were closed. It rained most of the day. At 6am I started getting calls and texts about the KY tornadoes. It is so nice to have so many people that care about Steve and me. I truly thank everyone for checking on us. What a sad situation here in Kentucky. My heart bleeds for the families affected by the tornadoes. We left Pennsylvania in the dark and arrived in Kentucky in the dark. There were some wicked storms by our new house also. The winds took away another canopy and our cabin plant.
The ground is also waterlogged from all the rain, but no real damage. Our new Williamsburg sign is here.
I can’t wait to hang it up.

Day 224 – “Living the Dream”. Friday, 12/10/2021. Today with the help of Jenna and Jamie, we emptied the storage unit and loaded up the truck as soon as the kids headed off to school.
Well, I didn’t do a lot. I am so weak, and the boxes were really heavy. We barely made a dent in the truck. That is a huge truck. We could have done a smaller one, no problem. Steve got nervous about finding a spot to park the truck tomorrow night at the hotel. So, we canceled the hotel and decided we are leaving tomorrow morning at 4am and driving straight back to Kentucky. I am driving the car and Steve will follow with the truck. In the evening Jenna and I headed to a mother daughter pajama party.
Oh, what fun we had. What a lovely group of women to party with.
Thank you, Debbie, for having this annual event at your house. You make entertaining look so easy.
I so loved the Christmas Family Feud game!

Day 223 – “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 12/09/2021. It is colder the closer we get to Pennsylvania.
We were supposed to pick up a 26-foot Penske moving truck tomorrow in Pottstown, PA, but we got a call this morning. They wanted to verify that we were picking up a truck tomorrow like we reserved. I say yes, we will be there 8am. The man then says, there are options you can have a 22 or a 26 foot. I said we have to have a 26 foot like we reserved. He says well I can give you a 20 percent discount if you pick up somewhere else like in Reading, Pennsylvania or King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. I said Well reading would be better since we are driving from Kentucky now and we are in West Virginia. He said you are driving all the way from Kentucky to pick up the truck??? He then got really nervous and said, I will call you back. He calls back a half hour later and says, you can pick up a 26 foot today in Lebanon, Pennsylvania with a 20 percent discount. I guess they didn’t have the truck we reserved. So, we headed to Lebanon, Pennsylvania and picked up the truck. We got an amazing price of 890.00 including tax, insurance. and free mileage for five days.
We will be dropping off in Kentucky. We left Lebanon, Pennsylvania with the truck and headed to Green Lane, Pennsylvania following Google maps. We took every back road there is and even was on one with a 10 foot 11-inch-high tunnel. Steve could not drive the truck through the tunnel and had to turn around. The truck is 12 feet high. Oh, my it was a very stressful drive. We blocked up traffic both ways trying to turn the truck around. It was an experience for sure. In the evening we spent time with family.

Day 222 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 12/08/2021. It is cold and spitting snow this morning.
Today was a driving day. The farther we headed northeast the colder and more snow we saw.
In the mountains of West Virginia, it is cold.
But I located a cool Nutcracker poster. Yes, I have an obsession with Nutcracker’s. Most of them are boxed up and will sleep through this Christmas season.
Okay, it is much milder in Kentucky. We are heading the wrong way.

Day 221 – “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 12/07/2021. Bet you can’t guess what we worked on today.
Yes, you got it. MORE WIRING. Steve says, three more days and then we can call the electrical inspector. It is getting cold here and I have changed to doing dishes in the old house. Yuk, I have tried to avoid it, but it is better than frozen hands.

Day 220 – “Living the Dream”. Monday, 12/06/2021. Day 220 – It was a rainy start to the day with lots of thunder and lightning. The temperature at 8am was 61 and at 7pm it is 31. What a drastic change in one day. It is going to be a cold one tonight. Our propane instant hot water heater died tonight. There will be no showers tonight. We ordered a new one. This one lasted about six months. Our kitchen cabinets arrived today. They came individually boxed and the boxes were wrapped with plastic tightly on pallets. The cabinets were custom cabinets we ordered online at Home Depot. We have used these cabinets before in other houses. They are made in Miami and are very well constructed with wood sides and backs. The delivery driver unloaded the pallets using a hand truck.
We opened the boxes and inspected them. Then Steve and Justin carried them into the middle level.
Steve is still working away on the wiring job.

Day 218 – “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 12/04/2021. A dreary day
of wiring, wiring, and more wiring,
mixed with a little cleaning. Went to town and followed the farmer home. Love seeing our house rising from the ground.
Only entertainment is the clouds of birds that set off the cameras.
The nutcrackers are keeping me company.
So, what movie do you think we are staring in “Groundhog Day” or “The Birds”?

Day 217 – “Living the Dream”. Friday, 12/03/2021. The HVAC guys are almost ready to call for the rough in inspection.
It took them a lot longer to do the job than we thought it would. One of the main workers had a mild heart attack the other day. Hopefully they will be ready next week for inspection. The electric is just about ready for the rough in inspection also. Steve started pulling the feed wires today. There are around 30 feed wires. Each feed wire is a separate circuit.

Day 216 – “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 12/02/202102. Today we spent time cleaning up the lower level and stacking our boxes on the new storage shelves.
Then we headed to Koral’s Christmas chorus performance.
It was nice to be out and not working. Julianna also had her first violin performance in PA. We were able to watch a little on Facebook. Social media is great.

Day 215 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 12/01/2021. We have some crazy farmers here. I guess they can’t sleep or something. The combine woke us up at 2am. The farmer across the street was out there working. Steve went back to rough in wiring today. He is working on the lower level now. It will be a few more days before he is done. I worked on cleaning up the house. We also tested to ensure that the water actually makes it to the septic system. Steve dumped a gallon of water in the drain of the main level bathroom, and it made it to the septic system. Yeah!!!

Day 214 – “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 11/30/20211. It was a beautiful sunny 60-degree day here in KY
and it snowed in Wantage, NJ. We are happy to not be in the snow. First thing in the morning we went to Lowes and bought wood for shelving. Steve took time off from electrical rough in work and built shelves for the lower-level utility room.
We will have lots of storage on the lower level. We will be storing items there that we just brought back from PA. It is currently very hard to move around and work with so much stuff in the way.

Day 213 – “Living the Dream”. Monday, 11/29/20211. It was 24 degrees this morning and we have water in the cabin. That 50-foot heated hose from Amazon works great. Went to take a shower around 11am and the propane heater was leaking like crazy. So, Steve aka Mr. fix it went to work to fix it. He opened the unit, found the break, and soldered it. Steve is amazing. He can do anything. Our shower is fixed yeah.
We hung blankets over the doorways in the old house.
Ran the heater all day in that room and actually hit 60 degrees by the end of the day.
Woohoo it is a glamping experience. Steve worked on electrical wiring today also. Kentucky has the most beautiful skies.
A sad thing happened last night that yard calico cat was hit by a car and killed. We feel so bad for it. I think we’re going to need another mouser here or we will be overrun by mice from the fields.

Day 212 – “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 11/28/2021. It was another long driving day. The clamps on the tarps kept coming loose. We left hotel early.
At one of the rest areas, we saw this dog in the driver’s seat of a truck. It was so funny. That dog was so happy.
We got home and our heated hose was here.
Steve set it up and Justin came by and unloaded the truck.
The tarp was totally ripped up by the time we got back to our compound. In the evening I had a cosmopolitan,
listened to Christmas music from Alexa and set up a few Christmas decorations in our cabin.
Feeling the Christmas spirit!!

Day 211 – “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 11/27/2021. Truck is packed and we met moving company at the storage unit. Well, we ended up telling them forget it. The price quoted over the phone was $2,100. In person they said it would be double that. Wow, there were only a few more boxes than we had told them. They also said they could not take the plastic containers but would have to repack them in cardboard moving boxes. I had told the moving company representative that we had plastic containers. She never mentioned they would not move them. So, we told them forget it.
What a bummer, we paid another month of the storage unit of $165.00 and headed home with just the truck full. Ate lots of cookies,
drove to Clarksburg, WV, and spent the night. It was a much longer ride than we anticipated. We had to stop a lot to fix the clamps that were holding the tarps. Apparently, we just missed the snow in the northeast. At least something went right we avoided any snow. We are going to buy a cargo trailer and head back up at some point and empty the storage unit out. First, we want the electrical rough in inspection, the insulation, and sheetrock completed.

Day 209 – “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 11/25/2021. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We are enjoying family in PA.
Did some crafts with the kids,
was treated to a private violin concert,
ate a huge amount of food
on a beautiful table set by our daughter Jenna,
and went for a nice afternoon family walk, and then started watching Christmas movies. Wonderful day. We thank Jenna, Jamie, and family for having us for the holiday.

Day 208 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 11/24/2021. Late afternoon we arrived in PA. Had pizza and cheese steaks for dinner while Jamie worked on getting the Turkey ready to cook tomorrow.
We have not been able to find good pizza anywhere in KY. While we are away the animals are playing. Large buck passed through,
and cat played with packages on front porch. Justin also stopped by to take packages to his house.

Day 207 – “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 11/23/2021. Water lines are totally frozen. We are going away for the holiday, so we had to thaw the pipes and blow the water out. We turned the water off at the street, opened all faucets, disconnected the Hoses, loaded up the truck with Christmas presents, and armed the security cameras. Yes, it is Thanksgiving, but I have been shopping for grandkids. We will not be seeing them for Christmas. HVAC guys worked today, and we drove to Clarksburg, WV. Home of the runaway luggage cart. The packages keep being delivered even when we are not home. UPS is now delivering to the front porch of the new house.
One last thought. Showering at a hotel in a shower where I do not have to watch for spiders and snakes is soooo nice. Ahhhh!!

Day 206 – “Living the Dream”, Monday, 11/22/2021. We had 20 tons of driveway stone delivered. It is called quarry processed up north and dense grade here. It is small stone with dust which packs down nicely. You use it over firm ground or stone. Steve used it to create a parking spot and filled up around front porch step.
So nice to walk up to the front door now.
Justin worked on fixing the siding around the front porch roof.
Tonight, it is going down to 21 degrees. Oh boy!! I went to town and had to sit and wait at a train crossing.
The trains around here are very long. Five or six go through a day.

Day 205 – “Living the Dream”, Sunday 11/21/2021. A neighbor stopped by and wanted to know if Steve would build him a house. He has been watching the process and loves the house. He said it is so unique and not like anything he has ever seen. Steve told him no I am not building anymore houses, but my son will. Actually, I bet he builds one more for us at some point. A nice “SMALL” ranch. It was a cool rainy day, and we watched the same Sunday laundry shows. All eight of them. Lol.

Day 204 – “Living the Dream”, Saturday, 11/20/2021. Woke up to frozen water to cabin again this morning. Steve and Justin worked on roofing the front porch
and fixing the broken cabin water faucet. Steve says every day we stay here in the cabin we are saving 140.00. That is what we would spend at the Hampton Inn each night. The cabin is warm and cozy. The water is the issue. Justin left around noon, we had lunch, and Steve went in the new house to work on wiring. I went up to the house around 4pm and he was fast asleep in the recliner with the propane heater blowing on him. No evening work hours here tonight.

and the stairs were reinforced.
We also set up a few chairs to spend more time in the new house in the evenings.
We now have a propane work heater,
so, it is a little more comfortable. Not warm, but not freezing either.
Kitchen peninsula and sink being worked on.
