Day 223 – “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 12/09/2021. It is colder the closer we get to Pennsylvania.
We were supposed to pick up a 26-foot Penske moving truck tomorrow in Pottstown, PA, but we got a call this morning. They wanted to verify that we were picking up a truck tomorrow like we reserved. I say yes, we will be there 8am. The man then says, there are options you can have a 22 or a 26 foot. I said we have to have a 26 foot like we reserved. He says well I can give you a 20 percent discount if you pick up somewhere else like in Reading, Pennsylvania or King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. I said Well reading would be better since we are driving from Kentucky now and we are in West Virginia. He said you are driving all the way from Kentucky to pick up the truck??? He then got really nervous and said, I will call you back. He calls back a half hour later and says, you can pick up a 26 foot today in Lebanon, Pennsylvania with a 20 percent discount. I guess they didn’t have the truck we reserved. So, we headed to Lebanon, Pennsylvania and picked up the truck. We got an amazing price of 890.00 including tax, insurance. and free mileage for five days.
We will be dropping off in Kentucky. We left Lebanon, Pennsylvania with the truck and headed to Green Lane, Pennsylvania following Google maps. We took every back road there is and even was on one with a 10 foot 11-inch-high tunnel. Steve could not drive the truck through the tunnel and had to turn around. The truck is 12 feet high. Oh, my it was a very stressful drive. We blocked up traffic both ways trying to turn the truck around. It was an experience for sure. In the evening we spent time with family.
