Year 4, Day 365, “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 4/30/2025. The Wellington – The 2006 Silverado was sold this morning through marketplace within 30 minutes. I hope she enjoys the new farm in her old age. Literally the truck has been put out to pasture. The man who bought her is going to fix her up and use on his farm. At least that is what he said when he called. When he came to pick her up. I found out from the man with him that he is an Auctioneer. The truck was so upset being driven onto the flatbed that she popped her front tire with a huge bang. She did not want to go. Okay my anthropomorphism is at its highest peak and I want to take that truck back.
Today the Cilantro is coming up along with the Thyme. Two of the nine herbs planted on April 20th are up. It has been ten days.
This new truck journey began with a trip to get mulch. Now Steve does not want to put mulch in the bed of the new truck. He keeps looking at a dump trailer at Tractor Supply.
Last thing of the day. This truck is a bear to get in for someone 4 feet 10 inches.

Year 4, Day 364, “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 4/29/2025. The Wellington – The truck was towed back to our house last night.
Steve did some sanding and spackling in the corner bedroom and then went outside to fix the truck. We decided that the underside of the truck is so rusted. It is just to dangerous to drive any longer. We were very fortunate that the truck tire broke off and the brake line was severed where it happened.
Well, we bought a brand spanking new 2024 Ram Tradesman 2500 4×4 work truck today. This truck can pull 18,000 pounds and carry 4,000 pounds of cargo. Steve is very excited.
We have had that old 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 work truck for 19 years and we have replaced her. I feel bad that when something gets old we throw it away. I think I am thinking way to much about what happens to old broken down useless things. Haha!

Year 4, Day 363, “Living the Dream”. Monday, 4/28/2025. The Wellington – So many exciting things happened today. My herbs are starting to grow. I see baby Thyme plants coming up.
The corner bedroom is taped and the first coat of spackle has been applied.
The rear deck was power washed and is ready to be stained.
We purchased a tow behind Thatcher and ordered a tow behind broadcast spreader. We have to clean up the yard/field and get some grass growing before it gets too hot and dry. Justin has been catching honey bee swarms. Remember he is the animal whisperer. I guess that includes bees also. He is always available for bee swarm removals. Swarms mainly occur in spring. When a hive becomes overcrowded, the bee colony decides to split into two. They will not hurt you. They are just looking for a new home. Do not kill them, we depend on honey bees for our food. About one-third of the food we consume relies on pollinators. Call Justin he will come and take the swarm and provide them a new home.
In the afternoon we headed out to get a load of mulch. Before we could get the mulch loaded our brakes gave out when the front passenger tire broke off the truck. AAA and Justin to the rescue.
Waiting for Justin was a good time to sit back, relax, and rewatch some of the Kid’s weekend acting.
Got home and pulled out the Rao’s marinara sauce. It’s a good night to make pizza – comfort food at its best!

Year 4, Day 362, “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 4/27/2025. The Wellington – More door painting, trim painting, and trim installation.
Cleaned up the bar room floor.
Then we cleaned out the corner bedroom. Tomorrow spackling in that room starts. That is the room we slept in all last summer with a window air conditioner.
It is a beautiful spring day and our fields are covered with yellow buttercup flowers.

Year 4, Day 359, “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 4/24/2025. The Wellington – The large upstairs linen closet is ready.
More foraging time and unpacking coming up. We just keep jumping around now. The downstairs bathroom mirror is up. I was unsure if a gold frame would work or not, but I think it looks good. Pulls in the gold from the lights above and brightens up the bathroom decor.
The blinds are hung in that bathroom also. There is still lots of closet work to be done in there.
This home won’t be completed for another year. We have 114 planned days away. It is crazy.

Year 4, Day 358, “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 4/23/2025. The Wellington – We had our last inspection. The water heater and final plumbing passed. Yes, the plumbing inspector said – You do such good work. You better watch out because people are going to want you to do their plumbing. The water heater and electrical panel box display their stickers proudly.
It is a beautiful sunny warm day and the fields behind our field are being sprayed. I really don’t like those large sprayers. Our plants are happy in our nice clean environment.
The linen closet is slowly getting done.
Steve took the afternoon off and we went to Lowes together.

A little Easter surprise arrived today! These are better than live pets.
Out for Breakfast than back home to clean up the front of the house. Around the house had turned into a weedy mess. The flower beds around the house are ready for new plants and mulch.
The flowers alongside the road are so pretty this time of year.
Decided to try my hand at a little herb growing. The seeds have to sit in warm water for 24 hours.

Year 4, Day 354, “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 4/19/2025. The Wellington – Worked on hooking up lower level bar room sink. It is working and ready for final inspection.
Had blinds cut to fit lower the level bathroom window at Lowes. It was amazing that they cut the blinds in the box. Never saw that before.
In the afternoon we met with Justin, Bobi, Reina, Spencer, Marley, Koral and Will for an early Mexican family Easter dinner.
The only thing to say is KETCHUP!! Poor Spencer may be traumatized from the whipped cream. Justin had ketchup squirted on him at the same age.
The other half of my heart is out seeing Riverdance!

The butcher block counter in the bar room has been lightly sanded with 400 grit sand paper. It has been stained three times.
The afternoon was spent cleaning up the mound of dirt and weeds at the end of the driveway. It was way to nice to work outside all day.

Year 4, Day 351, “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 4/162025. The Wellington – Now that the tractor is ready to work for the season. It was a beautiful sunny day to move on to mowing the back field. The grass has filled in so nicely in the field. Hopefully we can get the grass to grow around the house as nicely. Currently our yard is filled with dandelions that have gone to seed. The Williamsburg next door has no dandelions. Where did these come from in our yard? It was a really sunny day. Steve mowed for three hours and is pretty sun burned tonight. He thought the ear muffs would protect him. Lesson learned- Wear sunscreen to mow.
It also was laundry day! Inside there is no chance of sunburn.

Year 4, Day 350, “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 4/15/2025. The Wellington – The Shower doors are installed in the lower level bathroom. Kohler is sending another glass door bumper kit. The sliding doors we bought had two right bumpers and we need a left and a right. Oops, quality control let that slip through. We have two of the same side hung now. It will be around three weeks before it arrives.
The mirror we bought is being returned. It is way to tall. A new one was ordered. That was an oops on our part. We are all settled back in until our next traveling days in June. The suitcases are going up to the attic except for Steve’s. His wheels were destroyed from the weight and the distance we rolled our suitcases. My suitcase survived the trip.
Spring is here and our John Deere tractor and excavator need some maintenance. They are work horses as long as you take care of them. I went to Meade tractor. There, I sat at the bar with other farmers and construction workers. We were all there to purchase parts and supplies. The sales person told me that they have seen a decrease in pricing. That was interesting with the tariffs. Then I went on their internet site. I read ” More than 75% of all John Deere products sold in the U.S. are assembled at U.S.-based manufacturing facilities. Less than 5% of John Deere’s U.S. sales are assembled in Mexico. Their products are assembled by 30,000 highly skilled U.S. employees based in more than 60 different facilities across 16 different states” Nothing Runs Like a Deere.

Year 4, Day 348, “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 4/13/2025. The Wellington – We got home around 12:30am. Need the day to get out of vacation mode.
We are so glad to be in our bed. One exciting fact I never knew is that Atlanta airport’s far southern runways 10/28 are unique. They are the only operational runways built over a motorway/freeway. The 9,000-foot grooved concrete runway passes over I-285. We drove under those runways yesterday around 5pm. I-285 is 11 lanes wide where it crosses under those runways.

Year 4, Day 347, “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 4/12/2025. The Wellington – Day 11 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Day 9 of 8 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. – Final Cruise and Ship review, disembarking in Port Canaveral Florida and driving to Science Hill, Kentucky.
We rolled our own luggage off the ship in Port Canaveral, Florida at 7am on the 4th deck.
We walked all around the outside deck of the ship. We needed to reach the point where you actually disembarked. This led into the ramp down to the terminal. Once in the terminal we walked down to the first floor and straight through facial recognition. Love love love facial recognition. We then walked across the road and went up another ramp to the second floor of the garage. We were on our way home within a half hour. We even took the time to Windex our car windows.
There has been major traffic and many accidents today. We are trying to get home tonight. We will see. Stopped at Disney World in Fort Valley, Georgia for gas. Oh no my mistake, I mean Buc-ee’s. At 3pm we are south of Atlanta with 430 miles to go. It looks like it will be after midnight if we drive all the way. It is a sunny beautiful 73 degrees in Georgia.
8 night Adventure of the Seas ABC islands cruise from Port Canaveral 4/4/2025 – 4/12/2025 review
Weather: It was a windy, cooler, overcast week.
Cruise guests: Lots of families and children. We kept away from the crowded children filled areas.
Ship Appearance: Very clean and well maintained. Lots of new carpeting, new upholstered main dining room chairs and a new room loveseat.
Embarkation/safety drill: Quick and easy Embarkation. Watched safety videos on the app on the way to the parking garage. Boarded ship and checked in at the muster station in person as soon as we got on the ship.
Crown Lounge: Nice relaxed area for specialty coffee and continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, and evening appetizers. This is a great area to meet people.
Windjammer Buffet: Good assortment of varied food for every meal. Breakfast had an omelet station and Steve had an omelet every day. One morning he got an extra surprise of a nice long hair cooked in it. The coffee was great. The oatmeal was wonderful along with the avocado bread. I usually eat hard boiled eggs on the ships for breakfast. However, the ones on the buffet looked strange with black spots. I was kind of turned off by that. I never ate one of those eggs. What was it poop, mold or ????. The premade fried eggs were gross also and pretty raw. The bacon was very good and done crispy. The corned beef hash was good. There were hamburgers/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and French fries served for every lunch and dinner. The hamburgers were great although the buns were not that soft. There was a specialty burger everyday. .The burgers were well done, but juicy. The chicken tenders were dried out hockey pucks yuk!! The foccacia bread was awesome along with the olives and cheeses. There was a nice assortment of nice fresh cheese wedges. The mashed potatoes were excellent and not salty which surprised me. Other excellent lunch items was the pulled pork, the chicken salad, and the cheese spread. It was crowded on port days early for breakfast and at 5:30pm when they opened for dinner. When they opened for dinner, the servers lined up and clapped. They danced and sang to a song for the theme for the night. A lot of times, when I walked into the Windjammer, a young man played a guitar. He sang Elvis songs with “wash your hands” in them. There are sinks on this ship and most people did wash their hands when entering the buffet area.
Main Dining room: Beautiful and service was excellent. We had a nice table by the window. Not once did anyone mention disinfecting your hands before entering the dining room. The purell hand sanitizing machine was set off to the side. I didn’t see anyone use it. The food was okay. It was nothing to write home about. Steve sent his beef tenderloin back three times and it always came back raw. The cheese plate’s cheese was totally dried out. I never saw anything like that. Also there was no bread or crackers served with the cheese. We had to ask for some and they were just thrown on to the plate. No one seemed to care about the food in the main dining room. We started going to the Windjammer after a few nights.
Debarkation: It was fast. We walked off with our luggage at 6:45am into the terminal and through facial recognition. Love facial recognition. We picked up our car in the main parking garage and were driving home within a 1/2 hour. Just a warning. It is a long walk with your luggage. We exited through the 4th deck doors on the port side of the ship. We had to walk around the ship’s outside to the starboard side to check out. Then you walk down ramps to the second floor into the terminal. Down a long hallway and down more ramps to the first floor of the terminal. Through facial recognition out onto the street. We crossed the street. We walked up a little ways. Then we took a ramp back up to the second floor of the garage. In the garage there were two small elevators that had lines. Steve walked to the third floor. He picked up the car. He met me on the second floor of the garage to load the luggage.
Stateroom attendant: Did his job. Room was clean. Had to ask for robe, tissues, and never supplied another bar of soap at the sink. It was a sliver at the end of 6 nights. The best thing our stateroom attendant did was make the largest towel animal I have ever had on my bed. It was an elephant made with a bed pillow. I was so excited when I opened my door. It made my day.
Casino: Clean, lots of machines, and lots of room to get around. Machines were tight although I saw a lady win over $4,000 on a $1.76 bet. Rewards have become tight also. Under 2,000 points the free cruises were for one. Royal Caribbean has tightened their belt. Cashiers were very nice and friendly.
Cheers with an Officer lunch: Captain did not give a cheer toast. Menu was ok, best part of this function is meeting people and the plentiful wine provided.
General crew onboard: Basically everybody did their job. Nothing above board to say about any particular crew members. One of the photographers did remember us from our Australia trip. That was so sweet.
Ship Excursions: Aruba’s party bus was good, but it wasn’t a party. There were no drinks onboard. No water, no anything for two hours of riding around blasting music. We did stop at a little church and the lighthouse. After two hours they dropped us off at a beach. There I was listening to people talking about yea that’s just a drinking bus. What a laugh that was. We actually took a taxi back to the ship. In Curacao we did a historical trolley ride. It was excellent. We learned a lot and would highly recommend. The tour guide was wonderful.

Year 4, Day 346, “Living the Dream”. Friday, 4/11/2025. The Wellington – Day 10 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Day 8 of 8 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. – Day 2 of 2 days at sea traveling from Kralendijk, Bonaire to Port Canaveral, Florida. There is always something going on. Today there was a special tribute to Veterans in the atrium. It was very heart warming. Never saw that on a ship before.
In the afternoon an ARC(American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier) was cruising along with us outside the starboard side. ARC is the leading US flag Ro-Ro carrier in the U.S., specializing in international trade and providing various services for the U.S. government. These ships offer port-to-port transport of heavy vehicles, helicopters, and Household Goods. They also provide end-to-end transport of Privately-Owned Vehicles and other equipment for the U.S. government and its various agencies.
We usually purchase a Book Later Form from the Next Cruise desk before we leave the ship. The cost is $200.00 and you must book a cruise within a year. Tonight is our last night before we depart the ship in the morning. Papers with the instructions and times for departure have been left on our bed. You also can find information by watching channel 7 on your stateroom TV. If you plan to have your luggage moved off the ship in the morning, leave it outside your stateroom cabin tonight. You will collect it inside the terminal. Your departure time is designated by your luggage tag color. We will be walking off the ship rolling/carrying our own luggage. as self-assist. Our departure time is 7:15am.

We spent hours in the Casino playing Quick Hits and made a lot of points without losing money. We kept going up and down. We have found that we do pretty well on this machine to make points towards prime while not spending a fortune. Trying to make Prime this trip.
Lunch in the Windjammer was good. The hamburgers have been excellent.
I was surprised by the largest towel animal on my bed ever and we have been at sea for a total of 548 nights. Isn’t he cool

Year 4, Day 344, “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 4/09/2025. The Wellington – Day 8 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Day 6 of 8 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. – We are in Kralendijk, Bonaire today from 7am to 2pm.
Kralendijk is the capital city and main port of the island of Bonaire. Bonaire is a municipality of the Netherlands. The island is 111 miles. In Dutch, Koralendijk means “coral reef” or “coral dike.” In Papiamentu, the town is often called Playa or “beach.” 6,700 acres around the island’s shores have been protected since 1979 as a national marine park. The Washington Slagbaai National Park occupies one-fifth of the island’s land area. In 1969 this national park was established as a wildlife Refuge. Cruise ships dock at the North or South Pier year round. We didn’t sleep well last night and decided not to go on our excursion. We slept a little later and just walked around town a little.
We also spent time watching the crew testing the life boats.
It is a very windy day. In fact this trip has been one of the windiest trips we have ever been on. I am constantly putting my sweater on and off depending on if the sun is out. The water here is super clear.
Our room is always blowing air conditioning no matter where we set the thermostat. And yes our balcony door is closed. We are not going to ask for it ti be looked at. We are afraid if they do any adjustment it will be to hot all the time. Better cold than hot.

Year 4, Day 343, “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 4/08/2025. The Wellington – Day 7 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Day 5 of 8 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. – We are in Willemstad, Curacao today from 8am to 8pm.
Willemstad is the capital of Curacao. Curaçao is an island in the Caribbean Sea and a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is situated 37 miles north of the coast of Venezuela. Curaçao is the poorest country in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Dutch is the official language, though Papiamentu, English, and Spanish are also taught in schools. BON BINI everyone. That is greetings from Curacao. If someone says bon bini to you. It means welcome so you’ll probably hear it from the islanders in the ABCs. Bon dia is the typical greeting in the morning, bon tarde after noon and bon nochi at night. It has been five years since we have been to this port. On the pier this morning there are some local dancers entertaining us. Grandeur of the Seas is also in port.
Today’s adventure is the Willemstad Trolley Train for $73.98 total for both of us. The trolley tour was pretty good and we learned a lot about Curacao. Curacao people are Dutch citizens. Our excursion started with a taxi ride over the Queen Juliana Bridge. It is a four-lane road arch bridge crossing the St. Anna Bay in Willemstad. It reaches a height of 185 feet. It is the highest bridge in the Caribbean. The bridge is 1,400 feet long and weighs a total of 3,400 tons. It opened in 1974 and was named after Queen Juliana. Queen Juliana from 1948 to 1980 was the reigning queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. From the top of this bridge, you could see our ship sitting in the water. Grandeur of the Seas was also visible.
Our trolly tour started by the Queen Emma Bridge. The Queen Emma Bridge is a floating pontoon bridge that connects the waterfronts of Willemstad’s historic neighborhoods Punda and Otrobanda. It is nicknamed the “Swinging Old Lady”. The Queen Emma Bridge was built in 1888 and has upwards of 15,000 people walking across it every day. Free ferry rides are provided when the bridge is open.
The trolley takes us alongside the merchants wharf which is a floating market. The fruits and vegetables come from Venezuela. Behind the market were old boats that the people from Venezuela stay in while delivering. These markets are drive through.
Curaçao’s currency is the Caribbean Guilder (Cg), which was introduced on March 31st, 2025. Neatherland money to Caribbean changed last week. Neatherland money can still be used till June, 2025. School is mandatory between ages 4 and 18 with uniforms. 7:30am – noon are elementary hours and 7:30am – 2pm are high school hours. Curacao has a population of 157,980. The majority of the island’s inhabitants are Roman Catholic (73%). We visited a catholic church where the stations of the cross in paintings were around the church inside. Our trolley guide is a singer and dancer and sang for us. Wow, she was wonderful.
A governor early in the 18th century decreed that all houses on Curaçao should be painted in colorful pastels. This is the reason for the colorful houses. The reason for it was that the white houses with the sun’s reflection gave him a migraine.
The trolley took us around the windy bay and back to the Government fortress/palace on the waterfront where we started.
Dushi is the most used word in Curacao. It means good sweet delicious.
After the trolley a taxi ride back to the ship was supplied as part of the excursion. We boarded the ship and headed to the Crown lounge to relax and socialize.

Year 4, Day 342, “Living the Dream”. Monday, 4/07/2025. The Wellington – Day 6 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Day 4 of 8 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. – We are in Oranjestad, Aruba from 9am to 11pm. It has been five years since we have been to this port. Last time was 3/8/2020 – 3/9/2020. This was right before they shut down cruises due to covid. https://deestimes.com/aruba/ Now we are in another historical period with the stock market dropping quickly due to the tariffs? Will it tumble into a bear market? That is a drop of 20 percent or more from a recent high. After breakfast, we headed off the ship. We went on a four-hour excursion ‘Kukoo Kunuku Party Bus and Beach tour’. We had booked this excursion in advance for $95.98 for both of us. No refreshments were included in the excursion.
The Logos Hope ship was docked near where we were meeting our excursion.

The party bus drove away from the main island road and onto the smaller streets to local neighborhoods. There we saw the businesses and homes of the local residents. These party buses are very loud and must annoy the peace and quiet of these residents.
Our first stop was at the Alto Vista Chapel. The drive up to the chapel is a long winding road lined with crosses marking the stations of the cross.
People come from all over on good Friday to do the Stations of the Crosses here. The fourteen stations are
1) Jesus is condemned to death.
2) Jesus is made to bear his cross.
3) Jesus falls the first time.
4) Jesus meets his mother.
5) Simon of Cyrene is made to bear the cross.
6) Veronica wipes Jesus’ face.

The women of Jerusalem weep over Jesus.
9) Jesus falls the third time.
10) Jesus is stripped of his garments.
11) Jesus is nailed to the cross.
12) Jesus dies on the cross.
13) Jesus is taken down from the cross.

The first chapel was built on this site in the 1700’s. That chapel was torn down and rebuilt in 1952. 75 percent of the population in Aruba are Roman Catholic. We got off the bus and took some pictures of the local flora and the church.
Our excursion was a lot of fun, but the party bus had no seat belts and open windows.
We passed the Aloe factory. The Divi Dvi trees were in the field along with the Aloe plants. Divi Divi trees are Aruba’s natural compass. They always point in a southwestern direction due to the trade winds that blow across the island from the north-east. Schools here teach Papiamento (the local language), Dutch, American, and Spanish.
Our second stop was the California Lighthouse. The restaurant was closed, but there were local vendors selling drinks and souvenirs.
It is a hot, humid, windy, and overcast day. By the end of the day my hair is a tangled greasy mess. After the lighthouse, we drove past stores. Then we went down along the Palm beach area past the Ritz Carlton, the Marriott, and the casinos.
We were dropped off at a beach for two hours. Well considering it was cloudy, and breezy. We decided not to stay at the beach. We took a taxi back to the ship.

Year 4, Day 341, “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 4/06/2025. The Wellington – Day 5 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Day 3 of 8 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. – At sea on Adventure of the Seas traveling from Port Canaveral, Florida to Oranjestad, Aruba. Day two of two at sea traveling from Port Canaveral to Aruba. Another sea day and decided to use our casino winnings in the spa. Spent the morning doing that.
The rest of the day was quiet, walking around the ship looking at the ocean.
Okay and we are not so up in the casino after today. This cruise has a lot of children on board. It is amazing how many newer to cruising gold crown and anchor members are on board this ship.
Also spent some time watching Julianna’s dance competition.

Year 4, Day 340, “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 4/05/2025. The Wellington – Day 4 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Day 2 of 8 night Southern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. – At sea on Adventure of the Seas traveling from Port Canaveral, Florida to Oranjestad, Aruba. This is day one of two days at sea traveling from Port Canaveral to Aruba. Washy washy and his guitar entertained us first thing in the morning.
Then we just hung around between the Crown Lounge and the Casino in the morning. We met a lot of really nice people and learned about what a problem Iguanas are in Fort Lauderdale. My favorite part of cruising is meeting people. While at home more mice are being caught and removed. They continue to love the Cheese Doodles. That is three so far.
Also the dance competition continued.
Today was Cheers with an Officer lunch and we had the pleasure of hanging out with the captain.
Dress your best attire tonight. Dinner was fun with Linda and Dan, but the food was kind of a disappointment. Chicken Cordon Blue was pretty dried out.
Oh the casino has been good to us so far. We have walked away with more money than we have spent in the last two days. Now just to keep it. In the evening after dinner we headed to the windjammer for a nice cup of hot tea. There I had the pleasure of watching this young man make a crepe. It was like watching artist at work.

Year 4, Day 339, “Living the Dream”. Friday, 4/04/2025. The Wellington – Day 3 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Boarded Adventure of the Seas in Port Canaveral, Florida. We checked out of the Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Buena Vista. Then we headed to Port Canaveral terminal five. We were ready to board Adventure of the Seas.
This is an eight night Southern Caribbean cruise visiting the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao). Dropping off luggage, parking, and boarding was quick and easy. We were on board by 10:45 am.
Great time to do some videos. First one is the Casino on deck 4.

We had lunch in the Windjammer. The hamburger was excellent.
There are two Disney Ships and the Amera docked next to us. Amera is an ocean going cruise ship built in 1988 and is waving the flag of Bahamas. This ship is small and accommodates 835 passengers and has a crew of 440 people. There are a total of 419 cabins. Amera is owned by Phoenix Reisen. Former names are Royal Viking Sun (Cunard), Seabourn Sun, MS Prinsendam (Holland America).
By 1:30pm we are in our room getting unpacked and settled.

We met up with some Texas friends at the Schooner Bar for some afternoon refreshments. So nice to catch up with Linda and Dan. Before departing the dock is fun to watch. It is amazing how much work goes into getting this ship turned around and back out to sea.
As the stock market closes at 4pm down down down our ship departs Port Canaveral. The last time we were on this ship was in December, 2023. As we pull out of port I can see a strange platform sitting in the water. It is a booster station for the $41 Million Federal Sand Bypass/Beach Renourishment Project. The Canaveral Port Authority partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Brevard County Natural Resources Management. Together they are working on a shoreline preservation project. This project represents a historic investment of $41 million. All of it is 100% federally funded. I found this post on The City of Cape Canaveral – Government’s facebook site dated 1/16/2025. “Beach renourishment-related operations have begun, both on land and in the water. This project will see 1.5 million cubic yards of beach-grade sand dredged from the shoreline of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) just north of Port Canaveral’s harbor entrance and moved southward onto the City’s beach. To help do this, engineers have installed what is called a booster station about 1,500 feet offshore the northern end of the City. This booster station (called Reggie (yes, that is its actual name)) will help “boost” (i.e., pump) dredged sand southward down the shoreline via a metal pipe and onto the beach to be spread out by work crews. Boaters, please be cautious of offshore construction activities. This booster station will remain in place throughout the duration of the project. A second booster station named Jack will be arriving later this month and will be placed south of the City offshore of Cocoa Beach to help push sand to the project’s “Segment 2” area between N. 2nd Street and Tables Beach.” Reading this post’s comments it seems as though people are not happy with this operation.
Dinner was excellent. The rolls were fresh soft and warm. The fish was fantastic also. This is the first cruise where at dinner we have a window table.
While we ate dinner we watched Julianna dance at her competition. It’s amazing that we can be in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico and we can watch a dance competition live from Lancaster, PA. I love technology. Wish I had this stuff when I was a teenager.
And at home the mice are having too much fun in our bar room.

Year 4, Day 338, “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 4/03/2025. The Wellington – Day 2 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Georgia to Florida. Last night, our phones went off about four times. We received code red alerts for bad storms. They were rolling through at the Kentucky house. Every time I got into that nice deep sleep, our phones started alerting us. They warned us of storms and flash flood alerts at home. I really need that coffee this morning.
It is still raining really hard this morning in Kentucky. We picked a good time to be away and not have to drive over that bridge into town. At the bottom of our crazy guard less hill, there is a white car. The car is in a big hole in the road to the left today. The water undermined the road. Wow, that is a lessen not to drive through standing water. – I hear the bridge is still there if you go to the right though.
The mice were very active during the night running around those traps. The storms must have scared them as well. Is it the massive rain driving them inside our house?
Tonight we are staying in Lake Buena Vista, Florida at the Hilton Garden Inn. Through the years we have spent many nights in this hotel. This is the first time we have to pay to park our car. It seems as though all hotels in the area are charging for parking now. The building and road construction in the Orlando area never stops. And the traffic is crazy.
We went to Walmart and ended up leaving with nothing. The lines were huge and the self check outs were all closed. Yup we were one of those people who left our cart and walked out. That case of water was not worth the aggravating wait. We went to the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets and proceeded to be ripped off for two slices of pizza. It cost $11.18 for two slices of pizza from the Villa Italian Kitchen. But it was the best pizza we have had in a long time so it was worth it. As I am writing this I am dreaming of that mouth watering pizza. Oh My gosh I want another slice.
Ended the day with a long walk and cup of hot tea from Wawa.

Year 4, Day 337, “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 4/02/2025. The Wellington – Day 1 of 11 day trip to the ABC Islands – Driving from Kentucky to Georgia. On the road again. Heading through Tennessee and into Georgia where we will spend the night.
You know we are a little bit paranoid about driving through Tennessee. Last trip the Move Over Law got us and we paid a $500.00 fine. Yup Steve will never forget the Move Over Law. This is a good time to be away. The expectations for Kentucky weather does not look promising with lots and lots of rain expected. Here in Georgia it is 92 degrees, sunny with blossoming flowers everywhere.

Year 4, Day 336, “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 4/01/2025. The Wellington – It appears as though the mice are back. They are bringing insulation from the outside wall into the interior wall between the bar room and the bathroom. For the last few days, we have had traps baited with peanut butter surrounding that wall area. The mice were ignoring the traps. Yesterday we tried adding a 1/2 of a Cheetos Puff to the peanut butter. Wow that drew one out of the wall very quickly. Mice apparently can’t resist the smell of Cheetos. Or is it a rat?? EEEEEEW
It is amazing how dirty the shower drain gets.
