Year 3 Day 218 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 12/06/2023. Day 3 of 4-night Bahamas and Perfect Day on Allure of the Seas (Day 5 of 17-day Caribbean vacation). We are in Nassau, Bahamas today from 8am to 5pm.
I was surprised how many people really dressed up for formal night last night. The younger adults seem to really dress up. This cruise is filled with young families with children. This morning we were at the Windjammer buffet at 7am and had the longest conversation with Sofiane. What a nice young man from Tunisia. He makes my exceptional person list. This is his first contract and first cruise. He is so excited to be experiencing this new life. He made us feel so welcome. Thank you Sofiane.
After breakfast, we headed out to explore Nassau. We decided to just walk around this visit. This is the first visit we have been to Nassau where the new cruise port is open. What a difference from the first time we were here in 2008. Love going cruising in December, the ship and the ports are so Christmas decorated and all the music and movies are Christmas related. The new port is completed. Wow it is gorgeous. There is even a new small museum.
We took lots of fun Christmas pictures as we walked through town and stopped at Junkanoo beach.
In Nassau you are not allowed to wear any camouflage clothing, only the local, I guess military can wear it. It is kind of nerve wracking to walk the streets and see military guys with automatic weapons on the streets. We also saw many police/secret service black vehicles rushing around with sirens and lights going.
Always follow the crew to find free wifi.
We weren’t the only ships docked and it is super crowded. There are six ships docked (two Royal, three Carnival, and one MSC).
In the afternoon we walked round the ship and hung by the pool.
