Year 2 – Day 216, Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Day 4 Anthem of the Seas 7-night Bahamas Cruise. Nassau, Bahamas today. Last night I woke up and went out on the balcony to watch the rocket launching. Waited about ten minutes and saw nothing. Went back to bed and learned this morning that SpaceX rescheduled the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station launch at 12:35am to Thursday at 3:37am. SpaceX is saying teams need more time for pre-flight checkouts. The rocket is carrying a privately led Japanese mission to land on the Moon, called Hakuto-R Mission 1. The mission is funded by iSpace, a company that looks to make space infrastructure more “sustainable and efficient.” If successful it would be the first commercial lunar landing. Also on board will be NASA’s Lunar Flashlight, a small satellite that will use lasers to map ice near the Moon’s south pole. Both missions are focusing on lunar ice and water as an important part of establishing a human presence on the Moon. After the rocket launches, the first stage of the vehicle will land at Cape Canaveral. We pulled into Nassau, Bahamas to dock today at noon time.

Before we left the ship we went and had lunch outside in the back of the Windjammer. This is my favorite place to eat. Love sitting outside in port. We always try to search out the areas of the ship that are less crowded. People tend to stay in the front of the Windjammer. The best thing to do is to walk all the way through and out the back doors. It is heaven waiting for you.

There are five other cruise ships already docked. The Disney Wish was parked next to us. I took a lot of pictures of the Wish because my daughter and her family are going on that ship soon. The Anthem of the Seas is much bigger than the Disney Wish and probably a lot less expensive to cruise on.

Liberty of the Seas pulled in after us at the same dock.

Our friends did a resort for the day beach visit. We are not real beach people, so we just got off the ship and walked.

We will be on the beach tomorrow. It was a nice day for the beach, 83 with a gentle breeze. I hope tomorrow’s day is just as nice. We walked up through town to Junkanoo beach.

At Junkanoo beach there were a lot of Christmas trees. It was very strange to see decorated Christmas trees in the sand.

Someone offered to take our picture. We look like fools here, but I have learned always accept a picture taking offer and offer the same to others. Selfies are just not as good. Junkanoo beach is a free beach.

The town and beach are crazy busy. If you think about it there are six large cruise ships in port. If only two thousand people get off each ship. That means there are twelve thousand additional people around the Nassau area today. That is a very low estimate. Each ship must have at least 5,000 people on board. The stores have a lot of empty shelf space. Things seem much more expensive than in our past visits. At Junkanoo beach a bud light was $10.00.

Across the street they were 3 for $10.00. On the ship they are $8.00, but free for us. I think we were ripped off.

In the evening after dinner, we walked around the ship and took pictures as we left Nassau.

The Nassau Harbour Lighthouse is located at the western tip of Paradise Island. It is a 62-foot lighthouse built in 1817 with a white brick body and a red lantern top. It is surrounded by ocean, and you can see the rest of Paradise Island and the Atlantis in the distance. This is the oldest lighthouse in the Bahamas. It is currently abandoned and in disrepair. Look at these beautiful views. I hear you can walk to the lighthouse, but it is across rocks, sand and through the water. Sounds like a great thing to do on another trip. I am sure we will be back. Be sure and go outside for these amazing views when you leave Nassau.

We then headed to the Casino. If you like to cruise and like casinos there is great benefits to having some fun in the Casino Royale on Royal Caribbean ships.

Here’s the show schedule for this cruise. Be sure and see whatever shows are on your cruise. You won’t be disappointed.

Back at our room we are welcomed by our towel animals. It is so much fun to have these in your room every night. We have a great room attendant.
