Year 4 Day 147 “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 9/24/2024. Day 14 of 25-day Alaska to Las Vegas trip. Day 10 of 13 Alaska and Los Angeles cruise on Brilliance of the Seas. It is a foggy sea day traveling from Victoria, British, Columbia, Canada to San Francisco. California. We are in dense fog. The ship’s horn blew all night and is continuing today.

Tomorrow United States immigration will come on board the ship at 10am in San Fransisco. Everyone on the ship must personally appear and go through immigration even if they are not getting off the ship. This morning at 6:45am I headed to the dining room on deck 5 to get our immigration group ticket number to appear at immigration check in. I got off the elevator and the line was huge. The actual time to appear was 7am to 9am. The line was already moving. We are group 9 immigration check in tomorrow. There are 50 in each group. After obtaining our ticket it was off to breakfast. This cruise unlike the Alaska cruise has a lot of children. I saw one little girl this morning having a little bit of a tantrum. She wanted her Mickey pancakes. Her father could not make her understand that this is not a Disney cruise. The other difference between the Alaska cruise and this one is the casino. It was quiet with no smokers on the Alaska cruise. This cruise it is smoker’s paradise and packed. It is hard to find a machine and my clothes and hair smell like smoke when I leave. The Noon time Captain’s announcement says reduced visibility and dense fog until tomorrow in San Francisco. At noon we had traveled 384 nautical miles since Victoria, British Columbia and we will be traveling another 372 to San Francisco.

In the afternoon I watched employees washing the windows on deck 7 from deck 5. It is amazing how Royal Caribbean cruise lines can wash their high outside ship windows even when at sea. What is wrong with Amtrak? The windows on the Empire Builder were dirty dirty dirty. One of the Conductors told me they had to figure out how to wash the high outside windows. Hey maybe Royal Caribbean should provide Amtrak employees window cleaning classes.

We are watching a Hurricane make its way up the Gulf of Mexico and wondering what cruise ships are impacted.
