Year 4 Day 148 “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 9/25/2024. Day 15 of 25-day Alaska to Las Vegas trip. Day 11 of 13 Alaska and Los Angeles cruise on Brilliance of the Seas. Day one of two in San Francisco, California. Alcatraz day and National Daughters Day! First things first Happy National Daughter’s Day to our beautiful smart loving daughter Jenna Klenieski. “You may have outgrown my lap, but you will never outgrow my heart” and also Happy National Daughter’s Day to our Daughter-in-law Bobi Ranck. Wishing you true joy on this special day. Thank you for being a great Daughter-in-law.
Okay now onto our day.
We went under the Golden Gate Bridge at 8am. It wasn’t golden lol. It is a foggy day.
We pulled up and parked at pier 35 next to the Royal Princess. We are near the Bay Bridge.
There are so many sea lions in the water. The temperature is cool and will remain in the low 60’s all day. I guess I think California and I think warm sunny days. OK, how stupid am I? Apparently, that is not how San Francisco is. The cold water from the Pacific Ocean interacts with the warmer air from the inland, leading to the formation of thick fog banks that hug the city’s hills. We bought tickets online to go to Alcatraz with the Alcatraz city cruises for 11:30am. We had to show our passports to immigrations before we got off the ship. They started calling numbers at 10:30am. There were 400 people ahead of us. We were off the ship by 10:45am. They really moved. We were off the ship in plenty of time for the cruise boat to Alcatraz. Author Bill Baker was in the bookstore there. He is a former inmate of Alcatraz. The audio tour was like you were there. It was amazing.
Every time I leave my sunglasses those darn towels animals steal them.
