Year 3 Day 260 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 1/17/2024. Day 6 of 12-day winter 2024 vacation. Day 4 of 7-night Western Caribbean cruise on Harmony of the Seas. We are in Roatan. Honduras today. The Aqua show was canceled last night due to a leak in the pool. It was too dangerous for the performers. They had to drain the pool. -8 at home today. 78 here in Roatan, Honduras. What is it by you? On our way to breakfast it is pouring. Then as we are pulling into port there is the most beautiful rainbow.

We docked at the Coxen Hole Roatan Cruise Port, went ashore as soon as the ship was custom cleared. and wandered around the port. This port is located in the town Center of Coxen Hole, the capital of Roatan, which is in the southwestern corner of Roatan. Coxen Hole Roatan Cruise Port is managed by Royal Caribbean. This is not a port that you can expect to spend any time in. It is small with very few shops.
We went back to the ship very quickly. Every time you get on the ship you have to empty your pockets. You will go through a metal detector and all your stuff will go through an x-ray machine.
Remember the shops are closed on the ship on port days and Royal Caribbean only serves lunch in the Main dining room on sea days. We wandered the ship.
The Ultimate Abyss is about 150 feet above sea level and are side-by-side slides that go down ten decks at around nine mph.
If you don’t want to just hang out on the ship, then my suggestion is to book an excursion at this port. In the afternoon we ran into people that went out of the secured port area and walked to the left. If you do that you will pass a small beach and if you walk about 2 miles you will come to the sloth reserve. I love to give out little pieces of helpful information. Here’s a big one “Never ever trust your phone time on a cruise”. I always wear a watch and set the time to whatever the captain says. Sometimes you stay on ship’s time. This cruise it is that way.
