Year 3 Day 215 – “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 12/03/2023. Day 2 of 17-day Caribbean vacation. What do you say as a farewell to others. In the south it seems to be everyone says, “Have a blessed day”. All store clerks say this. It made me a little uncomfortable at first. In the northeast I never heard anyone saying this. Mostly I am used to people saying ” Have a great day! or Have a nice day! ” I am starting to get used to it now. Do people in the south really mean to express the real meaning of blessed (It means to be in favor with, of one mind with, and in tune with the will of God)? I take things literally and that phrase affects me deeply. I have come to realize that this phrase can mean many things depending on what the individual saying it believes. Many people want to convey a sense of positivity, goodwill, and hope for a good or fortunate day ahead for the person they’re addressing. It’s a polite and kind way to wish someone well. For others it is a religious expression tied to their faith. It’s a way of sharing their faith and spirituality. Then In some cases, people use the phrase as a social convention without deeply considering its meaning. It’s a polite and routine greeting, rather than a reflection of personal beliefs. We are in Lake Buena Vista, Florida today.
Lovely warm weather and the sun has made an appearance. In fact, it is 82 at noon in Florida and 53 in Science Hill, KY. The construction in Florida never stops.
In other news the Snow Pageant took place on the Lincoln County Kentucky Courthouse steps following the parade last night where a new Snow Queen was crowned. There were 41 candidates vying for the Snow Queen crown this year and our granddaughter Koral was the first runner up. Congratulations Koral!
