Year 3 Day 214 – “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 12/02/2023. Day 1 of 17-day Caribbean vacation. If you are looking to watch a cute series, I would highly recommend Young Sheldon. There are seven seasons. It is wholesome, heartwarming and hilarious and makes me laugh out loud. We left our house really early this morning at 4:30 am. We drove in the foggy dark until 7am. Even at 8am it is like we are surrounded by a wall of fog.
We are heading to Port Canaveral for a 4-night cruise on Allure of the Seas and then an 8-night cruise on Adventure of the Seas. It is a side-to-side cruise. Meaning we are changing ships. While driving down the road and talking about the upcoming winter snow. I started reading about Holland, Michigan and how they keep 190 miles of roads and sidewalks clear with no salt or plows. The Holland BPW snowmelt system takes waste heat from power generation to heat water, which is circulated through 190 miles of tubing laid underneath the pavement and sidewalks back to the Holland BPW power plant. The system pumps over 4,700 gallons of water per minute at 95 degrees and can melt about one inch of snow per hour at 20 degrees Fahrenheit with winds of 10 mph. The snowmelt system is a closed system meaning it circulates the same water over and over. How cool is that. What a great idea. Steve gets me up at 3am saying let’s go, let’s go, let’s go. We get in the car at 4:30am and he says I don’t know why we take so much stuff and we take so long to get out if the house. We put our luggage in the car last night. At 8:30am he is wiped and has me drive because he is exhausted. Hey, I’m not tired at all though. At 10 am he says I guess we didn’t need to leave so early. By the way it started pouring as soon as I started driving. At least it is warm.
