Year 2 – Day 187, Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Day 44 of our 1/2 world trip. In the morning we had breakfast in the Executive Lounge and spent a lot of time enjoying the view. Then we headed out and took the lite rail to Circular Quay, then bus 333 from Circular Quay to Bondi Beach. I zoomed in on the lite rail from our room on the 43rd floor. The bus trip took much longer than an Uber would have, but it was nice to talk to the locals on the ride and see some sights a little outside the city. There were no tourists on the lite rail or bus at 8am. Most people were going to work.
It was a really breezy but sunny day. We stopped for some coffee, and I couldn’t believe there were birds in the restaurant. The town is super cute and the ocean water is really clear.
Topless is allowed on this beach. There was a sculpture and sea exhibit on the cliffs between Bondi and the next beach. It was a great walk with wonderful water views and lots of art to admire.
There were a few school trips walking and viewing the sculptures. The schools all have uniforms. Different ones for different schools. About 35 percent of the children attend private schools. They say the education is not any better, but the facilities are. After leaving the walk we climbed a lot of steep stairs to get to a really steep street and walked till we found a bus stop. I can see why most people in Sydney are slim. We took a bus back to Circular Quay and walked through a food court.
Around our hotel and around Circular Quay it appears that you can find any kind of ethnic food you want. I have never seen so many different types of restaurants in such a small area.
While eating lunch at Betty’s Burgers and Concrete Company, we sat near some Rangers. This Australian chain burger place has fantastic burgers. This is the third time we ate lunch at one.
This is our last full day in Sydney. We really enjoyed our time here. Later we went shoe shopping. I wanted to buy a comfortable pair of non-slip flip flops. Oh yeah, these stores are expensive. $2,000 for shoes. Okay, I am buying five pairs. Sydney is the most expensive city in Australia and is ranked the 15th most expensive city worldwide. The prices in Sydney are nearly double the prices of the country’s second most expensive city, Melbourne. This is one of the nicest places we have ever been and want to come back and spend a longer amount of time. Here’s a video of our room at the Sydney Hilton hotel.
