Year 2 – Day 183, Friday, October 28, 2022. Day 40 of our 1/2 world trip. Day 2 of 2 sea days traveling from Picton, New Zealand to Sydney, Australia.
As of yesterday, our ship was classified as tier 2. https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/travel/cruising-rules. Australia is amazing when you think about these facts. Australia has about 25 million people and California has about 39 million. Australia is 2,942,300 square miles and California is 163,696 square miles. The United States has a population of about 332 million and is 3,531,905 square miles. The median age in both countries is 38, but in California it is 36. Today is our last cruise day until November 27, 2022. It is a sea day.
Our luggage tags, and departure time schedule has arrived. It is time to pack up and put our luggage outside tonight. Now it seems like the last forty days have flown by.

Most of today’s pictures are candid photos of all the people, venues, and amenities I am going to think fondly about for years to come. I will sincerely miss them. The people you interact with in your travels make or break your vacation. So here they are: First the best evening dinner mates. Loved the laughter and smiles around our table. I will think of you fondly forever.
Then our new Diamond Club friends. Hope to be able to spend more time with them on other cruises, but they are from Australia and mostly cruise from Australia and we mostly cruise from the USA. It was so wonderful to talk to these people and discover how things are a little different in their life compared to our life. But ultimately, we all love our country, our family, cruising, and afternoon social hour. These people opened their arms to us and included us.
I not only will miss this group that we sat with every evening, but many other people that we socialized with in the diamond club.
The employees who kept the ship spotless and sanitized. I spoke with these people every day. Thank you for your hard work.
The Diamond Club Concierge was one of the best we have had. He helped us with so many things. No issue was an issue with him. Thank you!
The salon employees. My favorite place to go. What a wonderful happy place to go. They do make you feel wonderful about yourself. Thank you.
The shop clerks who are so ready to assist you with your needs or wants.
The many many servers who provided excellent quick service. They became our friends. We will be sad not to interact with you every day. Can I take you home with me?
Can’t forget the behind-the-scenes kitchen area staff. Without them we would have not had such good service and food.
The security officers who watched over us every day. It was a pleasure to talk with you guys and also to see you taking action where needed. Thank you!
The Casino Host. Great guy and so helpful.
The morning Bistro help. You guys kept the food area filled and looking so fresh and appetizing. The tables were always cleaned, ready for customers as soon as they were vacated, and you kept the huge variety of delicious food always available. Thank you!!
I can’t forget the many many bartenders that put up with all the guests and make everyone happy. They work long hours standing on their feet always smiling. Thank you!!
Then there are the many things I will miss after today. Such as being served a fantastic formal lunch.
The Dimond Club and getting specialty coffee anytime day or night. And the appetizers, continental breakfast, cookies, and lite lunches available. Also, if you wanted to socialize all you had to do was stop by and there were always people around to chat with.
Of course, the view of the Ocean, the feel of the Ocean breezes, the sea air smells, and sleeping with the ocean movement will be missed.

Our last little towel animal says goodbye. Tomorrow we are being dumped in a foreign country. Without a plane or boat, we will never make it home.
