Living the Dream – Year 2, Day 145

“Living the Dream” – Day 2 of our 1/2 world trip aka Year 2, Day 145, Monday, September 19, 2022 (9/19/2022). Breakfast at the hotel was $45.00. It was good, except for the price. We are coming back to this hotel here after the Alaska cruise for three nights. I guess we will eat breakfast here in the mornings. The weather in Seattle right now is gorgeous. It is beautiful with lots of sun no humidity. We have met such nice Uber drivers. Two of them had won the Ethiopian diversity lottery to come to the United States. They could not speak highly enough of how wonderful it is to live in the United States. It is so nice to hear such love for our country instead of all the negative things people that are born here say. The drive to the Seattle cruise port was about an hour drive. We passed a few trucks carrying logs. The trees the logs were cut from must have been huge. The city appears very clean. I never realized that Seattle is on a hill over the water. We boarded Quantum of the Seas very quick and were on board by 11am. I love to wear dresses and I wore a dress to board the ship like I normally do. There was maybe one other person in a dress. Everybody wore jeans or fitness pants. I guess I have to stop being old fashioned and just dress casual ALL THE TIME. The view of the city and the Space Needle from the ship is fantastic. A complete feeling of peace filled me as I sat on the ship’s deck and viewed the evergreen filled hill dotted with homes. There also appears to be a bike trail that runs along the water’s edge. I am hopeing we have time to check it out after the cruise while vacationing in Seattle. We were able to go to our stateroom at 1pm. We are in balcony stateroom 8520. Here’s a video of our room. https://youtu.be/7hymwb4Vjro

Numerous people told me the tree picture from yesterday outside of Olive Garden was a Magnolia tree. I am very surprised that Magnolia trees grow in Seattle. Our evening dinners will be in the Silk dining room. After dinner we strolled around the ship and watched the shopping frenzy from deck 5.

Around 7pm, I went out on our balcony and took some quick pictures. It is cold and windy. I think this portion of our vacation is going to consist of wearing jeans and a jacket every day. This is not the Caribbean. Tomorrow is an at sea day. We ended our day in Canadian water having a nice cup of hot decaf tea.

Today’s product recommendations are traveling essentials.                                                    1) Luggage hand cart – we love this cart for easy rolling for easy cruise carry-on bags.  Even when you can’t go to your room right away this is so easy to walk around the ship with.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3s37EOw

2) This large toiletry bag is the best.  Steve has the black and I have the pink.  We both absolutely love them.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3v1p6ok and picture
