Living the Dream – Year 2, Day 144

“Living the Dream” – Day 1 of our 1/2 world trip aka Year 2, Day 144, Sunday, September 18, 2022. Up at 1:45am. Off to the Lexington Blue Grass airport where I had a friendly pat down frisk and my hands were tested for explosive residue. Very interesting indeed. The airport is so nice and relaxing though. We left at 6:30am. We flew American airlines on a CRJ700, which is a very small plane just like the airport was. There are four seats across with two seats on each side of the aisle. We flew at 28,000 feet to chicago for about 55 minutes. It was 323 miles and there were no gremlins on the wing. I sat over the wing, carefully watching for them. The view of Lake Michigan was really nice. We flew out over the water and then turned to land. It was a really smooth landing. Waiting to land as smooth with Jamie one day. In Chicago, we had McDonalds for Breakfast at 7:06am. We could tell we were in the Chicago O’hare airport. It cost us $18.00 for McDonalds. Our next flight was at 8:40am This was a 737 which is a much larger plane. This plane had six seats across with three on each side of the aisle. We flew this flight at 36,000 feet for four hours for 1,721 miles. After an hour on the plane the woman sitting next to me goes to the ladies room and comes back and tells me she has a bad migraine. A few minutes later she is throwing up all over. It was pretty disgusting. We asked if there were any available seats for us to move to. The flight attendant said there were two seats, but not together in the exit rows. We moved and I sat between two men and Steve sat between two women. Hey it was an upgraded seat. It had the extra leg room. You could watch free movies by connecting to aainflight.com. Both flights were a very smooth ride. Viewing the snow covered mountains coming into Seattle was so awesome. We landed and took an uber for $25.00 to the Hilton Garden Inn in Renton. We had checked in online and our room was ready early. By 2pm pacific time, we were starting to wonder how much longer we could stay up and we had to get something to eat. Since there were no restaurants near us and the hotel restaurant was closed because it was Sunday night. We decided to hit our stack of chain restaurant gift cards. We use our discover card cash back and buy them at 90 percent off. It is like getting free food when we travel. Ordered another uber and by the time we walked to the front door it was sitting waiting for us. It cost $11.00 each way to the closest Olive Garden. I really wanted a glass of wine but figured if I had any alcohol at this point I would never make it back to the hotel. I guess this is what you call jetlag. By 6pm pacific time we are fast asleep. We are definitely not “Sleepless in Seattle”.

One last thing. Anyone know what kind of tree that is in the pictures below? It was outside the Olive Garden.

Today’s product recommendations are traveling essentials.                                                    1) Luggage hand cart – we love this cart for easy rolling for easy cruise carry-on bags.  Even when you can’t go to your room right away this is so easy to walk around the ship with.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3s37EOw

2) This large toiletry bag is the best.  Steve has the black and I have the pink.  We both absolutely love them.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3v1p6ok and picture
