Year 5, Day 258 “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 1/13/2026, Day 8 of 22 day California Zephyr cross country trip, followed by a California coastal drive, and then a 14 night Mexico Cruise – Today is Day 4 of our 4 day California coastal drive and Day 1 of 3 night Ensenada cruise from Los Angeles on Quantum of the Seas – Embarkation day.

Traffic is horrendous driving to San Pedro from Arcadia this morning. It is a clear sunny 51 degrees.

First stop is Target Optical in San Pedro before we drop off the rental car. Threw my contacts away last night and of course I forgot new ones at home. Hopefully Target optical will have them. Otherwise it is blind for two weeks or UGLY GLASSES. City traffic is not for me. I love country life much better. Except for medical and shopping. Driving down Interstate 710 South/ Seaside Freeway there are many signs advertising lawyers that handle Uber/Lyft accidents. Based on the last two drivers we had. I can imagine there are a lot of accidents. We will be boarding Quantum of the Seas and remain on her for 14 nights. It is actually three different cruises. A three day, a five day, and then a six day. We are going to be changing rooms and staying in three different balcony rooms. Deck 13, then 11, and then deck 10. We were able to get 5 days of daily contacts. We ordered 1 box to pick up on Friday from Target. We dropped off our Enterprise rental car and headed to San Pedro World Cruise Terminal. There are two cruise ship ports in Los Angeles. Most cruise ships dock at this cruise port. It’s the largest cruise port on the West coast and it accommodates the biggest cruise ships. Quantum of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas are both docked and loading passengers. We are on the ship by 10:45 and head right to our muster station. Our station is A3 which is in the Royal Theater. We did the safety video check ins on the app while driving here.

By noon time the closest parking lot to the ship is full. We are allowed in our starboard forward balcony room 13540 at 1pm. Video will follow. Our luggage was already waiting for us. We can see Navigator of the Seas docked from our balcony.

Departing Las Angeles at 4pm.

Dinner was good with excellent service. The Pan-Roasted Fish Fillet was good. The company was the best.

A little casino fun before some tea and off to being rocked to sleep.

Here is a lot of information about this cruise and Royal Caribbean. So much paper left in our room.

Here’s a little something to ponder.
