Living the Dream Year 4 Day 274 – Day 7 of 10 Day Tampa to Bahamas trip (Day 5 of 7 night Bahamas cruise on Radiance of the Seas from Tampa, Florida) – Bimini, Bahamas

Year 4, Day 274, “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 1/29/2025. Day 7 of 10 day Tampa to Bahamas trip (Day 5 of 7 night Bahamas cruise on Radiance of the Seas from Tampa, Florida) – Bimini, Bahamas.

Bimini is known as Hemingway’s favorite retreat. Bimini is only 50 miles from South Florida. It is the closest Caribbean island to the U.S. coast. What a beautiful island. We walked down the pier and took a free shuttle to Resorts World shopping.

This is a dream world with no poverty here. Resorts World Bimini is a tropical paradise. A relaxing vacation spot for people who have a little extra money to spend. Resorts World Bimini Cruise Port welcomes all major cruise lines. This includes Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line. There is an International Airport here. Round trip to Freeport, Bahamas costs about $270.00 and is a two hour flight. Here we have found the land of the golf carts and home of Resorts World and Hilton Casino.

Bimini is known for its world-class fishing, vibrant marine life and stunning beaches. The water is turquoise and amazingly clear with lots of fish.

This is the clearest water I have ever seen. Bimini is a shark hotspot so be careful if you go in the water. Some areas you can’t even go in the water.

The area is 9 sq. miles with a population of 1,988 persons. The highest point is 20 feet. Bimini is believed to have meant “two islands” in the language of the original inhabitants, the Lucayans. After walking around the resort shopping area and the marina we went into the Resorts World Casino.

Then back to the ship on that free shuttle.

Bimini has an overpopulation of feral house cats and golf cart rentals. Most feral cats are tabbies. Be prepared to be approached by feral cats and lots of people trying to rent golf carts. It was easier to deal with the cats.

We may be relaxing with island, ocean and boat views, but we are still looking at new home designs.
