Living the Dream Year 3 Day 318 – Clifty Hill 2 – Outside electrical box is installed, DWV pipes completed, scrap lumber hauled away

Year 3 Day 318 – “Living the Dream”. Friday, 3/15/2024. Clifty Hill 2 – The outside electrical service box is up. The ground wires and rods have to be put in still.

The DWV pipes in the home are completed. Pressure testing and sealing leaks is taking place. The installation of the copper water lines is moving along. Copper pipes are not inexpensive. For water lines you use type L. There is also type K and type M. Type K has the thickest wall and is used a lot underground. Type M has the thinnest wall. PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) seems to be more commonly used. But copper pipe is considered a sturdier building material that has a longer lifespan, lasting up to 70 years. It is about 60 percent more expensive than PEX. Also, it can be susceptible to cracking if the water inside the pipes is subject to freezing temperatures. The rough in of the main level water lines are totally completed now.

The scrap pile has gotten very large, and Justin is taking the scrap lumber that is not treated and burning it in his wood stove. That is a win-win for both him and us.

The best news is we now officially own the five acres of farmland behind our houses.

Things to ponder today! Have to leave you thinking.

Danish Butter CookiesHere’s a link to today’s Amazon recommendation: https://amzn.to/3IS64GS These are the real Danish Butter cookies. This is Steve’s favorite 10am break snack. He has to hide the box from me! There won’t be any left if I find it. Yes, it is so much better hidden.
