Year 3 Day 228- “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 12/16/2023. Day 9 of 8 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. (Day 15 of 17-day Caribbean vacation). Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. We are off the ship and in our car driving by 7:30am. It was a quick departure.

We are happy to be headed home. Even though we heard Christmas music the whole trip it does not feel like Christmas. The ships were not as decorated as they have been in the past.

So, let’s do a review and comparison of the two ships we have just been on. Allure-of-the-seas versus Adventure of the Seas. This is a hard review comparison because they are two entirely different cruise ships. The Allure is much much bigger and has a totally different feel to it.
1) Cabins – are about the same on both ships. Clean and a nice size. The Adventure of the Seas cabin doors open into the room and the Allure door open out into the hallway. Does anybody know why?
2) Stateroom Closets – Our room on the Allure this time had the bed away from the closet. When your bed is next to the closet it is horrible to get into it. The closet was nicer and easier to get into on the Allure than on the Adventure. Closet was dark and hard to get into the shelves on the Adventure.
3) Bathroom – The bathroom is actually nicer on the Adventure. The shower head adjusts up and down and the shower itself is roomier than the Allure. The Allure had a little shelf to place your foot up to in shower to wash though, which is nice. Of course that is because you could not bend over in the Allure shower. You could bend over in the Adventure. The water pressure in the Allure’s sink was so strong you got soaked when you turned on the water. You had to be careful. The Adventure bathroom was a little worn as it is an older ship.
4) Beds – comfortable on both ships.
5) Sound proofing – The Allure cabin was very quiet and nice. The Adventure had a connecting door. The connecting doors on Adventure are paper thin. We could hear everything from the connecting room.
6) Food – The food was about the same on both ships. Some good and some bad
7) Service – The dinner in the main dining room was quicker on the Allure than the Adventure. Adventure was painfully slow.
Windjammer buffet – Allure has a bad set up for the food buffet. Most of the food is in one area and it is a horrible madhouse. The Adventure has the food set up all around and is so much easier to get around it. The food stations are well positoned.
9) Crown Lounge – much better on the Adventure. The view is of the ocean and the coffee machine was always working. On the Allure the view is of the boardwalk and lots of balconys and the coffee machine was broken alot.
10) Public spaces- Allure has lots of large spaces to roam around (Boardwalk, Central Park Promenade deck, out side covered walking trail around the ship off of the spa gym area) Adventure has the promenade deck, outside walking trail, covered deck. These are all smaller on the Adventure.
11) Casino – Allure was larger, but on both the slot machines were very tight.
12) Employees – All employees on both ships were very nice, helpful, and smiling.
13) Pizza – Pizza was better on the Allure. Crust was nice and it was cheesy. On the Adventure the crust was burnt half the time.
14) Internet – fantastic on both ships. Royal Caribbean has great internet since they went to Starlink.

We decided to drive all the way home and we hit Atlanta, Georgia at a bad time. It was a total mess of traffic on interstate 75 north and interstate 75 south was empty along with all the streets around Interstate 75 for a long period of time. It was very strange. There were unmarked police cars flying around everywhere. It was like what is happening. I looked it up and found that Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff are visiting Atlanta for the Cricket Celebration Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Florida A&M University faced Howard University in the annual HBCU championship game. Harris is a graduate of Howard University. She studied political science and economics at Howard University and graduated in 1986. Vice President Harris is the youngest living vice president. Her husband Doug Emhoff is a lawyer. Riding in a car a long time is so boring, but sometimes I learn something. Today, I saw many signs saying that Milk is more hydrating than water. Who knew? Here’s another thing I should pass along. When you fill up at a Loves. They immediately put a $175.00 hold. The gas actually cost $17.00 Isn’t that ridiculous? By 6pm the weather turned pretty nasty with lots of rain. Every time we get tired of cruising we stop and eat somewhere or even buy coffee and we realize what a deal cruising is for us. Love trying out new ships!!

It always amazes me when I see a weird vehicle on the highway. Look at this truck! Some people like to stand out in a crowd.

Here’s a link to today’s Amazon recommendation: https://amzn.to/3t4So73 This is a portable scale. I use it every day at home and take it in my suitcase whenever I travel. I try to keep track of my weight even on vacation. It is great. I guess the best thing to say is if it broke today, I would be ordering one immediately.
