Year 3 Day 225- “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 12/13/2023. Day 6 of 8 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. (Day 12 of 17-day Caribbean vacation). Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. Today we pulled into St Croix, US Virgin Islands. There is a rainbow as we pull in and the sun is rising. I think this sets the scene for a gorgeous day.

This is our last stop before heading back to Port Canaveral. We have two days at sea to get there. This island looks so lush and green with lots of sail boats anchored offshore. It looks like paradise. I spent some time after breakfast on the balcony drinking coffee and enjoying the view and the peaceful serenity. The breeze is nice, and the temperature is perfect. This is what I love about cruising and having a balcony. We have an excursion booked today called Mutiny Vodka and are meeting at 10am on the pier.

We are the only ship docked which should make for less crowds.

We have been cruising for fifteen years and we have never been to St Croix before or Dominican Republic. The reason we took this cruise was to go to these new ports. Around the pier there are large turtles swimming around.

I just learned that Royal Caribbean is dropping Ben & Jerry’s ice cream venues from its cruise ships. The last day for them to be on Royal Caribbean ships is December 15, 2023. Steve has eaten a few cones these past few days. Actually, the ice cream is better that is served in the dining room than Ben & Jerry’s. We won’t miss them on the ships. We rode in a 15-passenger van for our excursion. They drive on the left-hand side of the road. In just a short while after leaving the pier, I noticed that St Croix is much different than the Dominican Republic. Here there are no motorcycles, no garbage on roads, lots of road construction, and homes appear nicer. It was like a 30-minute drive with no seat belts. The seat belts were hooked with ties so you could not use them. Hey, the driver had his on and there was a huge sign on the dashboard saying fasten your seat belts. Driver said nothing most of the trip. It was a silent AWKWARD ride.

We passed Captain Morgan Rum distillery, a huge field of solar panels, and a huge oil refinery. The refinery is shut down though and thousands of people have lost their job.

They import oil here and gasoline $4.00 a gallon. We stopped for a photo opportunity on a hillside. The van driver/tour guide did not tell us much. There was a friendly horse that greeted us though.

Second stop was St. Christiansted where we were given an hour to walk around town.

We then went to Mutiny vodka Distillery. Mutiny vodka is made with Bread fruit.

On the way back onto the ship we saw the coolest little race car boat running around on the water. I had to video it.
We left St Croix at 6pm and will be traveling 1,412 miles the next two days back to Port Canaveral at about 24 mph.
Here’s today’s cruise compass.

Here’s a link to today’s Amazon recommendation: https://amzn.to/3t4So73 This is a portable scale. I use it every day at home and take it in my suitcase whenever I travel. I try to keep track of my weight even on vacation. It is great. I guess the best thing to say is if it broke today, I would be ordering one immediately.
