Year 3 Day 159 – “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 10/08/2023. Clifty Hill 2 – The weather turned much cooler today. Steve is enjoying not having to work under the brutal sun. The 2 x 10 Ceiling joists aka attic floor joists are still going up pretty fast. We are short a few and a Lowes run is coming soon.

The bird or wind planted cantaloupe made it through the night under the tarp. Never had cantaloupe grow this well before. So, I like to review places we stay and things we do. Last week we stayed in an oceanfront home in Avon, NC called O’Sun. We rented this house through Vacasa Rentals – www.vacasa.com Vacasa rentals is a large company that manages vacation rentals. Anyway, here is a review of this home.
The Bad
Roaches/water bugs
All three overhead Lights didn’t work in middle level hallway
Stains on carpet. Disgusting
Pots and pans were gross
Rusty utensils
Broken chairs
Wobbly table
Filthy windows and sliding glass doors. We had an ocean front house and we could not see through the finger and nose prints on the glass doors.
Games were all missing pieces
Sliding door from living room was very hard to open and close. My arm was killing me after a few days. I ended up just asking Steve to open and close the door when I went in or out to the deck.
The Good:
House was neat and vacuumed when we checked in.
Nice new deck and roof.
Nice oceanfront area
Beautiful view from the deck of the Avon fishing pier
Lots of toilet paper and soap
Towels supplied were good.
Washer and dryer worked good.
No body cares about the house
Just somebody taking your money.
That’s it for today. We are glad to be home to our new clean home. Here’s todays thoughts to ponder.

Today’s product recommendations are cruising essentials (paid links): 1) It is so nice not to have to worry about stapling your luggage tags to your luggage handles and to have them rip off. We have these plastic holders on our luggage and love them. We use them for Royal Caribbean cruises and also fold the MSC tags to fit in them when we travel with MSC cruise lines. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/3RAGgED 2) A lanyard is great to have. It makes it so easy to carry your seapass card and some tip money around the ship. These are really nice. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/3PTVLGB 3) I have found that a nice toiletry bag is essential, and this is the one I love. Here’s a link to it: https://amzn.to/3EO2Y4F 4) Packing cubes – I can’t say enough about them. I would never go on vacation without them again. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/3Rxx8AA 5) You have to have a small purse for getting off at ports or for carrying a few things with you around the ship. Great for when you have no pockets to carry the cell phone. This one is beautiful. Here’s the link: https://amzn.to/3ETJNpS 6) Room Thermometer- I leave one of these packed in my bag. The temperature fluctuates so much, and I like to try and keep my room at a stable temperature. This keeps me honest with myself. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/46tNoXH
