Year 2 Day 359 – “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 4/23/2023. Day 9 (Day 2 at Sea traveling from Galveston, Texas to George Town, Cayman Islands) of 21-night Radiance of the Seas, Galveston TX to Los Angeles, CA. Why can a man get up and shower and be ready even if I shower first. Steve says stop fighting the aging. Ah NO way, I have a lot of creams to apply every morning. Oh well he can just wait for me to get ready or head up to the Windjammer without me. We have been sitting at the same table every day in the Windjammer for breakfast. Mishkah is one of the hardest workers. She is constantly moving and keeping all the tables cleared and clean. She does this with a constant smile to everyone. What a lovely woman. It is a pleasure to go to breakfast because of her. A nice perk in the morning.

We walked the 12th deck and then the fifth deck in the morning. Exploring new areas of the ship is always fun. It is nice to find a quiet place to sit and relax. There are plenty of them on all ships. You just have to explore. Hey, let’s see what is down this way. You will be surprised at the areas you will find. And of course, all roads seem to lead me back to that wicked Casino, the tempting shops, and the bars…. LOL

I headed to the spa and made an appointment to get a Mani & Pedi. I always have my nails done on cruise ships. They do a fantastic job, and they don’t use a Dremel on my nails. That alone is the best reason to get your nails done while on vacation. It is a treat.

It is a gorgeous day. Everywhere you look there are people walking, stretching, exercising, taking pictures, and maintaining the ship. This ship is old, but they are trying to keep it healthy and looking good. OMG – just like my morning creams.

Our room is on the 10th deck and most of the rooms are suites on this deck.

The hallway is really wide compared to where we were last week on the 8th deck. I have been passing this room with anchors and names of ships on them on the door. So I stop to take a picture of the door and a woman walks out. Awkward for sure. Here I am lurking outside her cabin door taking pictures. Yikes!! She was really nice after I explained about loving her room decor. Yes, she has been on every one of those ships at least once. I count 28 anchors. They are all Royal Caribbean. I never had the chance to ask her if she goes on other cruise lines as well. It appears that there are a lot of Loyal to Royal people on board.

I love seeing the world and being away, but with that said you do miss a lot of family events. Our granddaughter was in the school play Annie this weekend. I heard she did a great job. It is hard being torn in all directions. Always thought I would live in the same town as my kids and their families. Then I would have been in their life and at their little events all the time. Life does not always work as you planned. So, I have become the grandma they see once in a while. Boohoo!

We spent some time sitting outside on deck 5 under the lifeboats. If you zoom in on the picture you can see ropes looped off the side of the lifeboat. That is so if you are in the water, you have something to grab onto.

There is a quilters group on board called STITCHIN HEAVEN. They meet on sea days and the company brought their machines on board. They are a group of nice people.

At lunch time there is a lot of big patches of brown seaweed floating in the water.

At noon time we are 24 miles from the Cuba coast. We have 270 more nautical miles to go to George Town, Grand Cayman. It is 81 degrees We just passed the Yucatan channel and entered the Caribbean Sea. The ocean is like a lake. Very calm and serene. I had Grilled Beef Quesadillas for lunch. They were fantastic and we had a really nice couple sit next to us. We met some other people who will be on the Amtrak train with us back to Galveston. They have done roomettes and really like it. It is considered first class on Amtrak.

Today’s product recommendations are for traveling by car. 1) We always carry this Igloo Playmate cooler in our back seat. She is always belted in. We carry water, lunch and snacks. We never go anywhere without it. https://amzn.to/41rWJNa 2) A first aid kit is also a necessity when you could be on the road far from a town. This is a great one. https://amzn.to/3Uyo2Ty 3) We also keep wet ones in all our vehicles. Using rest areas or eating snacks require the use of good antibacterial wipes. https://amzn.to/3UCWhJS 4) I also always keep these toilet seat paper covers in our vehicles. I hate those interstate rest area seats. Men have it so easy. Not us ladies we have to sit on those seats. Sometimes they are really wet from other people’s bodily fluids. How gross is that. These work great. Keep them in your vehicle or purse. https://amzn.to/41qjz7J
