Year 2 – Day 268, Saturday, January 21, 2023. After a great night we are on the road again. We slept wonderful on the king size bed with a super comfortable mattress. We were served a fantastic breakfast of eggs, bacon, and fruit by two fantastic servers. These servers have served us breakfast numerous times. They both are so sweet and good at their jobs. I would highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn in Tifton, Georgia if you need to stay somewhere in the Tifton area. The coffee is great here. I love my coffee.
We are traveling to Cape Canaveral, Florida and will be staying at the Country Inn and Suites. It is the closest hotel to the cruise port. They have a great Stay and Cruise package. We always stay here, and you can pay for extra parking days for longer than eight days. They shuttle you back and forth to the cruise port. Fantastic hotel, breakfast, parking area, and shuttle service for a very reasonable price. By 10am we are at the Florida Welcome center, and it is raining in the low 50’s. Still wearing jeans and a sweatshirt.
I spent a little time looking at the signs about the Florida wildlife. Do you think we will see any of the Great Blue Herons, White-tailed Deer, Florida Panthers, or American Alligators while we are in Florida?
We always look for the Alligators in all bodies of water.
Mostly we will see the deadliest animal of them all – HUMANS!!! The welcome center is very educational about the local wildlife. Even a sign so you can identify some of the state animal tracks. So, take a little time and relax here and learn a little about the state wildlife. Mom, Dad this is a learning stop for your children.
If you want to stop for anything including gas on a trip. I have found Love’s to be the best. Lots of variety of things for sale including souvenirs, fresh salads, fruits, and gasoline. They also have super clean private bathroom stalls.
Our snack for the afternoon. Not as good as it sounded from reading the bag.
There is always some kind of traffic issue. This is on the other side of the highway. Look how many police cars have pulled over that vehicle and they have stopped all traffic. I wonder what they did wrong. I am so glad it isn’t delaying us.
We are traveling through Orlando around 1:30 pm and it is 70 degrees.
Now I am happy. Work is still being done on the Brightline train.
The Orlando train station will connect 170 miles of track from Central Florida to the rest of South Florida. Construction is underway in the South Terminal of Orlando International Airport. You can cut your travel time in half and take a train from Orlando to Miami without the traffic. It will take two hours from Orlando to West Palm Beach. You will travel through Florida at 125 mph. Can’t wait to see this. In Cape Canaveral it is 73. Loving it. Port Canaveral has been named the busiest cruise port in 2023. Look at the ships that are in port today.
We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites tonight and will be leaving our car in their parking lot for the Wonder of the Seas cruise. Here’s a video of the hotel and our room.
