living the Dream – Year 2, Day 243

Year 2 – Day 243, Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Another early morning Lowes trip. This time to a store an hour away. We needed a 12-foot handrail and more balusters. Our local Lowes did not have what we needed. The handrail is needed for the stairs going from the foyer to the lower level. We also picked up a bird feeder and some black oiled sunflower seeds. Steve felt terribly guilty about the birds having no food when the temperatures were so low.

The sun finally came out in the afternoon and the snow melted quickly with the temperature going up to 38 degrees. The grass is appearing now in patches.

Tomorrow it will be close to 50 degrees. I imagine it will be greener then with patches of white. Today it is white with patches of green. Justin and Bobi worked on moving the wood from the trees the electric company cut to their house. They have a wood stove in their living room.

The nutcracker family continues to grow. This green and silver guy showed up today. He is all decked out for St Patrick’s day. I have a captive audience here.

Steve bought me the Roomba I wanted. Hope I like it as much as everyone who commented on one of my previous posts where I mentioned I wanted one. You guys all said yes, it is fantastic, and I totally agree so far. I charged her up and put her upstairs. It was so much fun watching her vacuum. What a great job she did. I want another one for my birthday for the middle level.

Steve worked on setting up the area for the balusters to be placed on the foyer to the main level staircase and then installed them.

We are using over sixty balusters. Every single one had a sticker that had to be rubbed off after dipping in boiling water for about twenty seconds before they could be installed. After the label was removed and the baluster dried then we used Goo Gone to remove the sticky residue. Goo Gone works great on removing adhesives and even gum off of surfaces. It is amazing how doing simple things bring so many memories of people we have met through our life. Harriet Kuperus turned Steve on to this product years ago.

Used a few of my Christmas presents from the kids. The garlic press. Love this gift

and my new vest. It is so nice and warm. I am so grateful that my children think of me and know exactly what I need or would love to have.
