Year 2 – Day 15, Sunday, May 15, 2022. Buc-ee’s are the largest gas stations we have ever seen.
They have 80 to 120 fueling pumps at each location. Love’s Travel Stops look small compared to them. The first Buc-ee’s gas station convenience store opened in 1982 in Clute, Texas and they were only located in Texas till recently. Currently, there are 41 locations nationally. Their headquarters is in Lake Jackson, Texas. The company is a partnership between two men. I never ever noticed one till this trip. They claim to have the cleanest restrooms in America and the largest convenience stores. I really want to go to one. It appears as though they are an experience with homemade fudge and beef brisket. Also, they have Buc-ee the beaver running around. They are going to kill Love’s, but Love’s is for truckers and Love’s has showers. The traffic line going in and out of Buc-ee’s was huge. We went to Love’s. Look at this little guy in the vehicle next to us.
After reading about Buc-ee’s on the way home, I am going to have to visit one soon. There is one a little over an hour away from us. Time for a road trip!!! In 2012, Buc-ee’s opened its largest travel center in New Braunfels, Texas, on Interstate 35. This location is the largest convenience store in the world. It is 68,000 square feet, has 120 fueling pumps, 1,000 parking spots, 64 ice freezers, 83 toilets, 31 cash registers, four Icee machines, and 80 fountain dispensers. We were home by 5:30PM. Kitchen looks nice. After ten hours of driving, Steve hooked up the cooktop
and mowed some of the lawn. Yup, the snakes have taken over. They love the high grass. Time to get in the new house.
