Living the Dream – Year 2, Day 4

Wednesday, May 4, 2022. CocoCay, Bahamas.  Here’s a short video tour of the Windjammer this morning.

It is really dark with stormy clouds. We watch the lightning flash and listen to very loud thunder. It is a great morning breakfast show. Good thing this is the Bahamas and not the Bermuda triangle. Wow what a wicked storm. The windows in the Windjammer are actually fogging up.

Wonder how many times cruise ships get struck by lightning. Okay, I had to google it.  The odds of a ship being struck is 1 in 1,000.  Also I’d think they are designed so they get struck at the highest point and the current runs through the hull to ground which is the water.  Mostly though cruise ships tend to avoid storms. They drive around them whenever possible.  The precipitation is like snow coming down and melting. We are docked at CocoCay, but it is raining so hard you can hardly see the high water slide and balloon.

The internet has been great until today. This storm is making it impossible to get on the internet. So much for people working on a cruise ship. At 10 am they still are not letting people off the ship. So we have spent our morning in the casino. We won on the Buffalo slot machine and then our money got stuck in a machine. Unbelievable there are no attendants. They had to call one. We waited about 45 minutes to get our money out. They must have gotten the attendant out of bed.

Oh and the casino is crowded because no one can get off the ship yet. You know I never put a bathing suit on, but I got right up today took a shower and got ready for the beach. I love Royals private islands for swimming. Yup I brought the storms in. Over eager me. We spent a large portion of the day in the Casino and actually walked away without losing any money. Yeah, that is a good thing.

There is constant cleaning being done.  This man is vacuuming from a step ladder.  That is a first for me.

Look at the ship’s big red guard dog. I never noticed him before.

Oasis of the Seas is docked at CocoCay with us. By the afternoon it is really nice outside, but we are done with wanting to go to the beach.

The wait staff on this ship are the very best. Salvador and Cris are both wonderful. I have not had any exceptional dinners so far. Although, they are much better than what we had on the MSC Divina last month. We did not feel the wait staff or the food was good on the Divina. Royal Caribbean is hands down much better. Everyone at our table is saying the desserts are the best. I havent eaten any.

Check out these ballet dancer pictures in one of the stairwells. I wonder if they make them blurry so drunk people don’t know they are drunk.

One last thought for the night. It cost $16.97 to have a suit and two shirts pressed. Seems like an ok price. Mike told us at dinner to fold the suit four times and put in a plastic bag in your suitcase. He travels a lot and that is what he does. He says no wrinkles. I will let you know if it works when we are on the MSC Seashore next week.

Today’s product recommendations are traveling essentials.                                                    1) Luggage hand cart – we love this cart for easy rolling for easy cruise carry-on bags.  Even when you can’t go to your room right away this is so easy to walk around the ship with.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3s37EOw

2) This large toiletry bag is the best.  Steve has the black and I have the pink.  We both absolutely love them.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3v1p6ok and picture
