Living the Dream Day 43

This morning we got up a little discouraged after the canopy fiasco yesterday.

The canopies are all garbage now, except the original that we bought about ten years ago. That one we had over the picnic table and the spikes hammered in the ground. It is amazing how far the wind pulled them out of the ground.

The foundation is a little flooded today. This seems to be an everyday occurrence. Steve continued laying block, until he came across the bad Type S cement mix. These are the old bags on the lower pallet that someone must have bought and returned. When they get old they get huge chunks in them and can’t be mixed.

He worked on putting cap blocks in with anchor bolts which will be used to connect the wodden sill. We have never used cap blocks before, but always used semi solid ones which are easier to put the anchor bolts in.

Worked so hard he killed a 30 year old trowel.

It was dry enough later in the day where he was able to work on tarring the foundation.

I worked on trying to make the cabin feel a little more homey. Added flowers to the wall by the bed. Steve is calling it a chic cabin now.

Today’s product recommendations are: 1) The Quest canopy is the best. It survived 10 years and even that old it made it through a bad windy storm. Five other canopies did not. This brand is fantastic, and 2) Pvc wall decals are fantastic. You put them up in pieces so you actual make your design. There are many different designs. Instead of painting a design, use your artistic eye and put up these decals. Here’s the links to these products:
