Year 5, Day 174 “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 10/21/2025 – Day 15 of 30 day trip to Rome, Italy with a Mediterranean cruise and a transatlantic cruise back to Bayonne, NJ. Day 10 of 10 night Greece, Turkey, and Italy cruise on Odyssey of the Seas – Day 2 of 2 Sea days traveling from Istanbul, Turkey to Civitavecchia, Italy.

Last full day of this cruise and a lot of ship videoing. First a Windjammer breakfast Buffet video.

Then a short video of a look into the Crown Lounge.
Today we attended the Captain’s Corner.

Here’s a great video of all but the Q&A portion.
Some of the Q&A stuff talked about was Dry dock is every five years for ships. April 2026 is dry dock for this ship, Odyssey of the Seas. Istanbul, Turkey is trying to get cruise ships to do turn arounds there. They have invested a lot of money into their cruise terminal. The Captain loves to sing. The Captain’s favorite ports are Alaska, New Zealand, and Australia. Then a Windjammer lunch buffet video.

At 1:15pm a pilot came on board to enter the Strait of Messina. This strait separates the island of Sicily from the Apennine Peninsula and connects the Ionian Sea to the Tyrrhenian. The Strait of Messina is known for the dense ship traffic. About 15 thousand pass through the strait for a year and about 160 thousand ferry flights. Our ship navigated between Sicily and Italy’s toe. Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. About 5 million people live on the island. We passed coastal villages, and forested peaks. The width of the Strait of Messina varies from a minimum of 1.9 miles to 9.9 miles. This is 20 miles of beautiful blue waters. Going through the straits we could see Mount Etna, an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily.

Then one last video of the Windjammer dinner. Enjoy!!!

And one last visit for this cruise to the casino.

Packing up our diamond and casino water collection to move to our next room tomorrow.
