Year 6, Day 67. “Living the Dream”. Monday, 7/06/2026, Clifty Hill 3. We have help now. Justin will be coming everyday for the rest of the summer. It is another foundation day. Not a block laying day though. Another load of about 25 tons of number 57 rock was delivered. This load was $200.00 more than the last load which was delivered the beginning of June. Garage floor was compacted. Then more dirt and rock were added.
More French drains are put in place and covered with stone and then Landscapers fabric.
Even with the constant biteing of sweat bees, the French drains were put in around the bedroom and garage today. Sweat bees love this dirt and me. We also have Carpenter Bee Hawk Moths buzzing around in our hanging impatients. They are known as a Hummingbird Moth or Clearwing Moth. These are day-flying insects that look like bumblebees and carpenter bees. They hover over flowers like hummingbirds and sip nectar from flowers with a long, curled tongue. I had never seen or heard of one before today. They are active here in Kentucky when flowers are blooming from spring through mid-summer. They are harmless to humans, cannot sting, and do not damage wood. They spend their larval stage as caterpillars eating host plants like honeysuckle and native cherry trees.
