Year 5, Day 176 “Living the Dream”. Thursday, 10/23/2025 – Day 17 of 30 day trip to Rome, Italy with a Mediterranean cruise and a transatlantic cruise back to Bayonne, NJ. Day 2 of 14 night transatlantic cruise on Odyssey of the Seas – Florence/Pisa(La Spezia), Italy 7am – 6:30pm. Well almost. It is actually now sea day 1 of 2 traveling from Civitavecchia, Italy to Cartagena, Spain. Between 11pm and midnight last night our course changed drastically. We got up this morning and got ready for a windy rainy day at our excursion.

Pisa by Trolley 8am – 12:15pm. This was our most expensive excursion of the trip. We had booked and paid $248.00 for it in advance.

As we are eating breakfast, Captain Marek makes the official announcement. Due to gale force winds and 15-foot seas, we will not be making our port of call today. It will be a sea day today and tomorrow.

Then we will be in Cartagena, Spain. The good thing is we will have a credit on our account for our excursion money and the port charges. Hmm another mani- pedi before getting off the ship?

We rolled up our laundry and filled up a bag. We each get a bag of laundry done free of charge for being Diamond Plus. It is a one of the great benefits of being Loyal to Royal. Lunch was fun in the main dining room. We spent a long time talking to some first time cruisers from California. That is one brave couple doing a fourteen night transatlantic for a first cruise. Very impressive. The spaghetti was very good. The pulled pork sandwich was not. Also the French fries were hard and the cole slaw gross. A little casino time in the afternoon. It is amazing to look out our balcony and see the white caps. It is pretty rough. This ship hardly moves. She is a nice steady solid ship.

It was a good day to explore the ship.
