Year 5, Day 167 “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 10/14/2025 – Day 8 of 30 day trip to Rome, Italy with a Mediterranean cruise and a transatlantic cruise back to Bayonne, NJ. Day 3 of 10 night Greece, Turkey, and Italy cruise on Odyssey of the Seas. Today we are at sea traveling from Naples, Italy to Santorini, Greece. We are floating in the Mediterranean Sea. The water is nice and calm. Although sitting at breakfast the engine vibration is terrible. The Mediterranean has over 3,000 islands and is saltier than other seas. This is due to the high rate of evaporation, driven by the region’s hot, dry climate. We traveled through the Strait of Messina to the Ionian Sea last night. This strait was feared by sailors long ago because of the rocks and whirlpools known as Scylla and Charybdis. They were personified as female monsters in Greek mythology. The Ionian Sea is part of the Mediterranean Sea. This sea is home to the Calypso Deep, which is the deepest point in the Mediterranean Sea.
In the morning we went to the top tier event in the Two70. The Odyssey of the Seas Orchestra was fantastic. The drum solo went on and on. It was awesome.
Otherwise it was a relaxing day at sea. A little eating,
a little casino, and a little time on the deck.
Of course we did our two favorite things – Looked at house designs and booked another cruise.
Tomorrow we are in Santorini, Greece. Tendering and additional port charges.
