Year 4, Day 231, “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 12/17/2024. The Wellington – Getting ready for the annual cookie making event. Lol, I am tired already. I started pulling out recipes and deciding which ones should we make. It is a hard decision I want to make them all and want to not eat any. What a dilemma that is. It is the December into January weight gain time. Not sure why we all do this. I vow every year not to do it, but the tradition of making those cookies is too strong. I can practically smell the aroma of fresh-baked cookies in the air. The tradition of baking Christmas cookies dates back to medieval times. With love people make cookies every year and pass them on as gifts. In the 1930’s the tradition of leaving cookies for Santa started in the United States. It was the Great Depression. Parents wanted to teach their children to be thankful for what they had. They also encouraged them to be charitable. Here are a few of our old-time favorite recipes.
