Year 4 Day 139 “Living the Dream”. Monday, 9/16/2024. Day 6 of 25-day Alaska to Las Vegas trip. Day 2 of 13-night cruise Alaska and Los Angeles cruise on Brilliance of the Seas- Inside passage cruising from Vancouver, Canada to Sitka, Alaska. The inside passage is 500 miles long and contains over 1,000 islands. Very picturesque indeed. Here’s a picture from last night’s dinner and the Welcome aboard dinner menu that Royal Caribbean is currently serving on every cruise for the first night’s dinner.

The bed in our stateroom was very comfortable last night. We both had a great night’s sleep. Our room is port side balcony room 7108. An easy way to remember which side of the boat port is is that the number of letters in port matches the number of letters in left (4). So left side of the boat when you face the way you are traveling is port side. The right side is starboard. Our room is the first room away from the Centrum where there is always entertainment. Amazing enough it was pretty quiet with the doors closed. The balcony to this room is covered and is huge and contains a small counter height table with two chairs and two lounge chairs. Even with those four things on it there is plenty of room. We could entertain on it.

The Brilliance of the Seas is not my favorite ship because there are shower curtains in the bathrooms. The floor tends to get wet no matter how you shower. Yuk!! Somehow, we keep booking cruises on her because of itineraries and of course price. Our stateroom attendant just boarded the ship with us. We will be the first room cleaned every morning. Probably around 8:30am. We are showered and in the Windjammer buffet for breakfast at 7am. We always get to breakfast early. It gets crowded if you wait too late. The oatmeal and nuts were very good. Throughout the day we explored the ship and watched whales frolicking in the water.

We also spent a little time in the casino and went to the Crown Lounge for specialty coffee. The Crown Lounge has great coffee and a nice warm view.

By 11am we are near Port Hardy, British Columbia, Canada and we are in soupy fog. The temperature is 51 degrees Fahrenheit.

The outside pool is empty except for the lifeguard bundled up with a heavy coat standing in water at the edge of the pool. A few people are in the outside hot tubs.

At noon time we attend Cheers with an Officer with a couple we have cruised with before from Texas. We are cruising at 16 knots, and the water is 430 feet deep.

Time will be changing one hour back tonight. All afternoon we cruised in a wall of fog. No view at all which was kind of disappointing. It is formal night.

Things to ponder today! Have to leave you thinking.

Womens Fashion Orthotic Flip Flops: https://amzn.to/4efeh5w These are the most comfortable flip flops I have ever owned. You can wear them all day and your feet and legs feel great. They come in lots of different colors. Currently, I own one pair. I plan to buy a few more after vacation. They also work great as slippers.
