Year 3 Day 269 – “Living the Dream”. Friday, 1/26/2024. Clifty Hill 2 – Day 4 stair building. The stairs are covered with paper to protect them while house is under construction.

Sitting at breakfast we were so very fortunate to watch a coyote run across the yard. I tried to get a picture, but he was moving, and I was unprepared. What a beautiful healthy specimen of a Coyote. I think he is eating good. Coyote sightings increase during the winter breeding season in Kentucky and are most aggressive from mid-January to mid-March. Coyotes that live further away from humans in more remote areas tend to be diurnal and hunt during the day. Coyotes are very social animals; they do not form packs but rather live in family groups. They will usually travel, and hunt alone but sometimes join in loose pairs to take down prey. Coyotes daily sleep varies from a few minutes up to 12 hours. Kentucky government site says that small children should never be left unattended. Teach your children never to approach a coyote or run from one; instead, use hazing techniques. Use negative reinforcement to scare coyotes away; shout, wave arms, and throw objects. Do not run from a coyote or turn your back on one. We often wonder why cats appear at our house, but within a few days they stop coming. Well, reading this on the government site and I now know they are coyote food. “Cats are often easy targets for coyotes; therefore, do not let cats outside, especially without supervision.” The coyote symbolizes cleverness, resilience, and strategic thinking. It is also often seen as a symbol of death and rebirth. A sighting is a symbol to take a look within, to not take life too seriously, to lighten up, and to learn to laugh at ourselves and even our mistakes.

So, it is back to the treadmill or indoor walking track for me in the mornings before breakfast. Random thoughts run through my head as I walk. Today was about daily bed making. Do you make your bed every morning? We do, it is wonderful at the end of a long day to open it up like a gift. It’s a gift we get to open at the end of every day. Steve says it gives him joy to open that nice cleanly made bed and climb in every night. We are so thankful for our bed. Here’s a video showing the current state of construction of Clifty Hill 2 (The Wellington).
New tools are constantly arriving on our porch. We are always looking for quality tools to make the building job easier. Our newest tool addition is the Milwaukee copper tubing cutter kit. This will be used for rough in plumbing work.

Things to ponder today! Have to leave you thinking.
