Year 3 Day 222- “Living the Dream”. Sunday, 12/10/2023. Day 3 of 8 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Adventure of the Seas. (Day 9 of 17-day Caribbean vacation). We are at Labadee, Haiti today. We watched a small sailboat that was sinking being towed to shore while at breakfast.
We got off the ship by 8:30am. The water along the pier is so beautiful. If you turn around and look towards the ship the view is breathtaking.
We walked to the farthest beach which is Discovery Cove. On the way to the beach, we walked by three different bands with dancers.
You cannot go any further than Discovery Beach as the area is fenced off from the actual country. This is a Royal Caribbean exclusive area. The water was pretty warm. The sand as you walked into the water was very uneven and dropped off in shelves. People were pretty shocked by the drops. Also, there were actually waves. The water was really rough. We have been here many times, and the water is usually very calm in Discovery cove and still just like bathtub water.
The rougher water is to the left as you get off the dock where the zip lines are located.
Most water excursions were canceled due to the rough seas today. We pulled out of Haiti around 5pm and headed to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. We will be traveling around 30 mph. The winds are expected to be 40 mph tonight and the seas are going to be 6-9 feet. Our clocks are moving forward one hour so we will be on Dominican Republic time for tomorrow.
