Year 3 Day 174 – “Living the Dream”. Monday, 10/23/2023. Clifty Hill 2 – It is a cold 36 degrees in the morning. It is back to scraping the windshield in the mornings before going anywhere. It will be so nice to park in a garage again. Heading to Lowes early is actually an adventure for me or is it the caffeine rush causing this excited feeling. How silly is that. We very rarely go anywhere in the dark when we are working on the house. Steve just crashes after dinner. It is amazing to me how many people are up and about racing to work early in the mornings. We are at Lowes at their opening time of 6am. Lowes is always hopping when they open. The trucks are lined up waiting to unload and the forklifts are working double time. There is a lot of activity in the lumber aisle. It makes me a little nervous with the forklifts racing around outside in the dark and up and down the aisles loading and unloading. We picked up 40 2x4x8’s and 25 2x6x12’s. We loaded the pickup by the door along with the tractor trailers and those racing forklifts. I am always looking around as the tractor trailer tie down straps are unlatched or tightened. I am fearful of the tie down straps snapping or the load flying off the truck when the strap tension is released.

At 7am we are on our way home and it is still dark. It’s going to be a great morning to watch the sunrise. When we pull into the driveway, I notice the house is dripping with dew. It is like it is crying!!!

Construction work continues and the front gable is framed.

In the afternoon it is 80 degrees Fahrenheit on the back deck, and we have the invasion of the ladybugs. You can’t walk out the door without being buzzed by them. They are everywhere. They are even inside the windows. Looks like we are in for a lot of good luck. Ladybugs are thought of as a sign of good luck and good fortune. We vacuumed them all up and one hour later they are back. How are they getting in the house? My vacuum is filled with them. Why can’t my Roombas go get them?

Today was a busy day for the purchasing agent. French door was ordered, HVAC work confirmed, shingles being delivered, and siding priced.
Pondering thoughts.

Today’s product recommendations are cruising essentials (paid links): 1) It is so nice not to have to worry about stapling your luggage tags to your luggage handles and to have them rip off. We have these plastic holders on our luggage and love them. We use them for Royal Caribbean cruises and also fold the MSC tags to fit in them when we travel with MSC cruise lines. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/3RAGgED 2) A lanyard is great to have. It makes it so easy to carry your seapass card and some tip money around the ship. These are really nice. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/3PTVLGB 3) I have found that a nice toiletry bag is essential, and this is the one I love. Here’s a link to it: https://amzn.to/3EO2Y4F 4) Packing cubes – I can’t say enough about them. I would never go on vacation without them again. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/3Rxx8AA 5) You have to have a small purse for getting off at ports or for carrying a few things with you around the ship. Great for when you have no pockets to carry the cell phone. This one is beautiful. Here’s the link: https://amzn.to/3ETJNpS 6) Room Thermometer- I leave one of these packed in my bag. The temperature fluctuates so much, and I like to try and keep my room at a stable temperature. This keeps me honest with myself. Here’s a link: https://amzn.to/46tNoXH
