Living the Dream Year 3 Day 130 – Clifty Hill 2 – Framing Day 21 – Habitat for Humanity volunteer, Main level wall framing continues

Year 3 Day 130 – “Living the Dream”. Saturday, 9/09/2023. Clifty Hill 2 – Framing day 21. Today was an early morning volunteering for Habitat for Humanity by providing drinks at the first first aid station for the lake Cumberland half marathon.

The Lake Cumberland Half is a 13.1 mile point to point race to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Pulaski County Kentucky. The race began at Bronston, Ky on the Houseboat Capital of the World Bridge, crossed over beautiful Lake Cumberland and then traveled through parts of Burnside, Ferguson and back into Somerset. The race ended at Somerset Community College.

There was also a 10K. I was amazed at the ages of the participants. There were a lot of older individuals. There was a twenty-week pregnant lady and also a woman pushing her two children in a jogging stroller. I am so envious of these people. I could never run a half marathon. I have to say the politeness of these runners was heartwarming. Everyone was thanking us for volunteering. They were the ones doing all the work. Huffing and puffing and they were thanking us. Parking was only available at Somerset Community College and the participants were bused to the start line from there. There was a large team of police, firemen, medical professionals, & volunteers working this race. I volunteered at Aid station 1 which was approximately 2.5 miles along the route. After we were done volunteering, I had my first ever coffee at Baxter’s coffee. It was fantastic coffee, and I would highly recommend stopping at one of their locations if you are in the area. They roast their beans here in Somerset. You can also have their beans shipped to you. Here’s a link to their online ordering. https://www.baxterscoffee.com/shop Great coffee.

Then it was home to set up for our open house at the Williamsburg. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=332041802503113&id=100070918881445&mibextid=ZbWKwL.

While I was having all kinds of fun Steve continued another day of framing. There is constant heated discussion between Steve and I on where to put things. Kichen Layout and window and sliding door placement. The window and the back sliding glass door are very close, and Steve wants to change it. I like them close together. He wants to make the window there skinnier.

Things to ponder today!

Today’s product recommendations are for protecting yourself from the sun. I have become paranoid with protecting myself from the sun. My shoulder and Mohs surgery twice and now precancer on my nose. I decided I better buy some things to keep me covered so I can go outside. First, I love these shirts. They are comfortable, lightweight, come in many colors and are spf 50+. I am protected on the job and hiking on vacation. Here’s a link to them: https://amzn.to/44zt8SU The Dermatologist recommended Blue Lizard Sunscreen and Neutrogena. Here’s are links to those products: https://amzn.to/3OT8GXs and https://amzn.to/3Z1VJiS I also found this really nice sweater that will go great with jeans with spf +50. Here’s a link to that. https://amzn.to/45ONPLK I love Amazon and I just realized today that I can share a link to all the current best-selling items. Wow – Here it is https://amzn.to/3R2Lrgh
