Year 3 Day 115 – “Living the Dream”. Friday, 8/25/2023. Clifty Hill 2 – Framing Day 9 – Busy day here on Clifty Hill. The sweat bees are very busy licking and biting. The male licks sweat and the female bites.

Steve is busy with floor joists,

Justin fixed the truck brakes,

Lowes delivered plywood,

and I am getting the house looking good for Sunday’s open house. https://www.realtor.com/…/1511-Clifty-Hill-Rd_Science…. We have a cucumber plant growing at our new house. That is cool. The wind or a bird dropped the seed in a topsoil pile behind our lumber stacks. Nature is amazing.

I have been reading about sweat bees. They are consuming my every outside moment thoughts. This is what Orkin.com says. “While foraging, these insects obtain pollen and nectar from a variety of common flowers. However, sweat bees must supplement their diets with salt and moisture. This is often accomplished through feeding on human sweat, so the pests can become nuisances during hot days. Sweat bees are generally docile, but females can deliver a mild sting if swatted or aggravated. At times, they are known to swarm in the hundreds. The pests love burrowing through bare soil in sunny locations. Property owners with treeless, well-lit yards often experience infestations.” Yup we have the hundreds, and that pesky female hurts when she stings. This afternoon when the plywood was being delivered, I was stung. Okay, baby I am, I am staying inside. It HURT!!

More information: Sweat bees are among the most common bees wherever bees are found, except in Australia, where they are relatively uncommon. There are about 1000 species in the United States, Canada, and Central America. Sweat bees are particularly numerous in North America. It is late afternoon as I am hiding in the house, I find an article about Hover Flies versus Sweat bees. I think these pesky things we have are Hover flies and not sweat bees. They have two wings where sweat bees have four. What stung me I have no idea.

Here’s a good article if interested. https://a-z-animals.com/…/hover-fly-vs-sweat-bee-what…/ In the afternoon Steve mowed the lawn and weed wacked. I figured I would weed the gardens around the house. It wasn’t five minutes, and I was stung again. F***k it, I am not going outside anymore!!!!!!!! I am an inside computer geek.
In the evening after dinner, it turned really windy when Justin, Bobi, and Koral were heading home. All my new plants blew off the porch. Cold air blew in and really created havoc. We are hoping no harm comes to Clifty Hill 2’s frame tonight. Bobi and Justin saw a lot of trees blown over on their way home. They also said tractor trailers were pulled over and sitting on the side of the highway.
