Year 3 Day 109 – “Living the Dream”. Saaturday, 8/19/2023. Clifty Hill 2 – Framing Day 4 – We have found through the years when you build people come. The same people will stop consistently and talk to you. We have made a lot of friends through the years because of building projects. Okay that is true in NJ and PA. In KY people stop, but not consistently where we have developed long lasting friendships. We have been told that the Williamsburg is the nicest house for miles and Steve is the best builder around. Mostly they just all wave and drive by. It is so strange. The first house Steve built in Wantage, a man named Walt would stop by often and say hello. You never forget those friendly people. The last place we refurbished in PA, Larry stopped by often and checked on Steve. Now the Morning Doves keep a watch all day from the electrical wires.
Today was hot, hot, and hotter. I tried as much as possible to keep Steve company while he worked, but those sweat bees like me.
The main girder was installed through the garage today. That was a hard job especially for one person and with this extreme heat and sun. Each 2x12x16 probably weighs one hundred pounds. Southern yellow pine is very heavy. The front garage door header is also up by the end of the workday.
Every day when Steve is ready to go home, I clean up all the tools and bag up all the scraps and garbage. The smaller tools get loaded into the tractor/lawn mower trailer and Steve drives it home. Just like “Waterboy”.
