Year 3 Day 105 – “Living the Dream”. Tuesday, 8/15/2023. Clifty Hill 2 – Today I realized why we are building another house for us. You know your house is to big when your husband calls you on his cell phone from upstairs to ask where something is. I am always looking for places to visit and today I found two towns ideas that are awesome. The first one is Sułoszowa, a small town in southern Poland. Known as ‘The longest village street in Poland”. The 6,000 people residents live on the same street, along with a number of small businesses, including restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores. Each house has a strip of land to do whatever on. Look at the picture and there are different colors behind the houses depending on what each house is doing with their land. I would love to live in a town like Suloszowa, Poland.

Then there is Brondby Haveby Garden City which is located on the outskirts of Copenhagen. Now this town looks very futuristic, or alienish. Although, it’s not crop circles, it’s house circles. It was built in 1964. Another cool place to live. I think in both places the main focus is increasing social interaction between residents.

Steve decided he better check today and see if the foundation is level. OMG – thank goodness it is.

Another load of 3/4 inch clean stone is delivered. The rock quarry calls it #57 stone. Have you ever noticed those extra tires on dump truck. They are called drop axles. They spend most of their time tucked up against the truck’s belly until extra weight capacity is required, then they can be lowered when needed. When you load a dump truck with gravel, the weight can easily exceed the per-axle limit, so the extra wheels/axles are lowered to make the truck legal. They are raised at other times to improve gas mileage and eliminate wear on the tires.

Steve dragged me away from the computer to help him place the landscape barrier fabric over the stone and the drainage pipes around the foundation.

Then surprise, surprise our lumber showed up. No warning and the delivery truck is pulling in the driveway. It wasn’t supposed to be delivered until Wednesday.

Framing starts tomorrow. The gravel is all moved into the foundation. A little work still needs to be done on drainage. Steve says he is drawn to building houses. He loves vacationing but loves building more. He is one crazy man. Give me vacationing. I usually spend a few hours at the job site, but I am more the behind the scenes designing person. Plus, I like to take pictures of the progress!! I am not that hard physical worker like Steve is.
