Year 2 Day 355 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 4/19/2023. Day 5 (Cozumel, Mexico) of 21-night Radiance of the Seas Galveston TX to Los Angeles, CA. We were up early for Breakfast and greeted by upbeat sanitizing man at the entrance to the Windjammer. This man is so happy all the time.

We docked at 7:30am at Cozumel, Mexico. Cozumel is the largest island in the Yucatan peninsula and there can be ten cruise ships docking at the island daily. If you are going on a Western Caribbean Cruise, you will probably stop in Cozumel. We docked at Punta Langosta. This cruise pier can hold up to three docked cruise ships. We have also been here and anchored offshore and took a tender in. The MSC Divina is docked with us.

The Divina is a nice ship. We were on that ship in February 2022 for eleven days. Here’s a link to the eleven-day blog if interested in the Divina. After the ship facts you will find the links to each day. https://deestimes.com/divina/

It is about a five-minute walk to the main square. The Military are only carrying handguns at the port. Further down the street the Military had automatic rifles and grenade launchers. It seems unsafe to us to have all these weapons around a lot of tourists. After you leave the ship, you can walk to the end of the pier or take a free bicycle taxi to the end of the pier. There you take an escalator up to a walkway over the street and through a shopping center. The shop owners are not as aggressive here compared to the shops at the end of the International Pier. The International pier is about a ten-minute taxi ride south of here. The International pier is Royal Caribbean’s and Celebrity’s official pier. We are at Punta Langosta because the International Pier is full. We walked through the shopping district to the street. It is 8:30am and very quiet. This is the land of pharmacies, jewelry stores, and leather product stores. We walked a few blocks along the waterfront past the town square. Along the way we passed twenty pharmacies and probably just as many jewelry stores and leather goods stores.

We were offered free samples multiple times. Not sure what they were giving us, but they would say “Hey are you honeymooning? Let me give this free sample to you it will enrich your relationship”. Okay in other Caribbean ports you get offered free samples of eye cream. I don’t think these free samples were eye cream. The Military was holding some kind of drills on the waterfront. A local man said it was their morning drill. If you need more information on Cozumel, see here. https://deestimes.com/…/15/living-the-dream-year-2-day-11/

We passed a statue, at least I thought it was a statue till it winked at me. How funny is that. Can you imagine painting yourself to look like a statue every day? Then going to the mall and collecting tips to make money.

After our long walk we came back on the ship for lunch

and then specialty coffee in the Diamond Lounge and met a couple that live in London, KY. What a small world it is. Here’s a video of a walk around deck 12. Check out the nose!!!
Today’s product recommendations are for traveling by car. 1) We always carry this Igloo Playmate cooler in our back seat. She is always belted in. We carry water, lunch and snacks. We never go anywhere without it. https://amzn.to/41rWJNa 2) A first aid kit is also a necessity when you could be on the road far from a town. This is a great one. https://amzn.to/3Uyo2Ty 3) We also keep wet ones in all our vehicles. Using rest areas or eating snacks require the use of good antibacterial wipes. https://amzn.to/3UCWhJS 4) I also always keep these toilet seat paper covers in our vehicles. I hate those interstate rest area seats. Men have it so easy. Not us ladies we have to sit on those seats. Sometimes they are really wet from other people’s bodily fluids. How gross is that. These work great. Keep them in your vehicle or purse. https://amzn.to/41qjz7J
