Year 2 – Day 213, Sunday, November 27, 2022. Day 1 Anthem of the Seas 7-night Bahamas Cruise. We are up early and saying goodbye to everyone. They are headed to church, and we are headed to Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, NJ to get on Anthem of the Seas. First stop Wawa. I miss Wawa!!

The New York city skyline is awesome even with the clouds.

Well, Covid has altered our plans again. We were supposed to be a group of five. We are now down to four. One person is sick with covid. It is cloudy and 46 degrees Fahrenheit today. We are getting close you can see the dock cranes.

It is 11am as we pull into the cruise terminal to drop off our luggage and park. It was about a two-hour drive to the port. The line of cars into the port and the line of passengers getting on the ship are both very long. We got a parking ticket and pulled into the parking garage. Then we parked on Level three and made our way to stand in the line outside.

Surprising enough the line moved very quickly. Diamond Plus with Royal Caribbean no longer get priority boarding. Only the key does. They pay more though. We had to wait with everyone and sit awhile before getting on the ship. The first picture I had to take when on the ship was of the Christmas tree on Deck 5. Can’t wait to get some pictures in front of it.

Our friends from New Jersey met us on the ship. Let the good times begin.

It is a cold and foggy afternoon as we pass under the Verrazzano Bridge standing on our balcony. The Verrazzano Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting Staten Island borough and Brooklyn borough. The double-deck bridge carries 13 lanes of Interstate 278 traffic: seven on the upper level and six on the lower level. The bridge spans the Narrows which is a body of water linking New York Harbor with Lower New York Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the only fixed crossing of the Narrows. Notice the roof over our balcony. Not sure if I like it, but you can stand outside in the rain. Although it is hard to take pictures

The ship is full and there are 1,400 children on board. Everything inside is very crowded due to it being cold and windy outside. Everywhere you turn there is a screen with some kind of sports event. Is this a sport lover’s cruise? Soccer and football on every TV screen around.

Hopefully as we go south and warm up more people will go hang outside.
