Year 2 – Day 36, Sunday, June 5, 2022. The hummingbirds and the bees are really enjoying the hummingbird feeder. I am afraid of those bees, but I love looking at their little butts wiggling in the flowers in the feeder. They are getting super charged and excited with that sugar water.

Every day I have to keep Steve motivated by showing him where we were a year ago. https://deestimes.com/2021/07/11/living-the-dream-day-35/
It was a Cracker Barrell breakfast and Lowes shopping morning. What do you say – no laundromat? 2×4’a are now $6.50 each. In the afternoon it was back to work, capping those plumbing vent pipes. It was a challenging afternoon. If we were to do another house, it will be a ranch close to the ground. Everything takes longer and is really dangerous with a 2 1/2 story structure. Steve added a ladder stabilizer and still felt it was too risky. He just kept trying things. Steve does not give up. He was trying to avoid putting the little ladders back on the roof. He was trying to get to the plumbing vent from the deck side.

In the end he used the little ladders. They were sitting covered with dirt. My job was to wash them so they would not get the roof dirty.

I then carried them from the grass to the ladder so he would not get his boots dirty which in turn would get the roof dirty.

He ended up putting them back up. He screwed the cleat board to the roof. He did not put up the roof brackets. Then he laid the ladders up. When done he will have to tar under the shingles where he put the screws. A lot of trouble for this final plumbing air test. The roof is super-hot to the touch. It will burn you.

Interesting way to spend a day off. After both vent pipes were capped. We wanted to do a pretest before the plumbing inspector comes back. The inflatable ball was put in the septic pipe coming out of the house. First try the water leaked around the ball. We could not get it far enough in the pipe. So, we cut the upright pipe lower and were then able to push the ball in farther into the pipe after the T.

The dirt around the house is growing these big plants. Not sure what kind of weed it is. This is not any good soil. It must be a hearty weed.

Today’s product recommendations are traveling essentials. 1) Luggage hand cart – we love this cart for easy rolling for easy cruise carry-on bags. Even when you can’t go to your room right away this is so easy to walk around the ship with. Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3s37EOw

2) This large toiletry bag is the best. Steve has the black and I have the pink. We both absolutely love them. Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3v1p6ok and picture
