Living the Dream – Year 2, Day 27

Year 2 – Day 27, Friday, May 27, 2022. We decided we didn’t like the sinks we bought for the upper level bathroom. We ordered new ones in the morning and ran to Richmond to get them.

It was a nice day for an hour drive to Lowes in Richmond. We got to stop at Buc-ees in Richmond, Kentucky. The signs on I75 start miles away.

This is the first Buc-ees to open in Kentucky. It has been open for a little over a month. The opening date was 4/20/2022. The entranceway was lines with cars. It was a mad house. I am thinking the novelty of this convenience store gas station will lessen. Honestly, I would probably only stop to look around when I have extra time. It is way too busy to stop while traveling. Look at the below pictures and video. There are 120 gas pumps and a 53,000 square foot convenience store here. This store employees about 240 full-time employees. The starting pay is $16 per hour, and full-time employees get three weeks paid time off, health insurance offered after 60 days, a 6% company 401K match after working for one year. About 90% of the employees at this location work full-time. The second Kentucky Buc-ees location will be in Bowling Green, Kentucky and is expected to start construction soon.

We came home and I helped with cutting the wood for the bathroom counter. Here’s two videos. First one is explaining how Steve will be creating the sink countertop and the second video is actually cutting the wood.

Sinks are now sitting in the counter but need to be hooked up.

Today’s product recommendations are traveling essentials.                                                    1) Luggage hand cart – we love this cart for easy rolling for easy cruise carry-on bags.  Even when you can’t go to your room right away this is so easy to walk around the ship with.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3s37EOw

2) This large toiletry bag is the best.  Steve has the black and I have the pink.  We both absolutely love them.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3v1p6ok and picture
