Day 299 – “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 2/23/2022. Today is the last day and night of our cruise. The last of seeing some great employees. The Calumet buffet greeter and temperature taker, The tray provider, the coffee and water server,
the bar tenders, our cabin attendant,
the waiters,
and the store personnel. Such wonderful employees. The employees go out of their way to make your experience the best. The jewelry store lady even fixed an old watch for me, and they don’t do repairs. We are at Ocean Cay today. We have a perfect view from our Starboard balcony room.
Ocean Cay is MSC’s 95-acre man made private island in the Bahamas located 65 miles from Miami. It is a marine protected reserve. There are no plastic bottles of anything sold on the island. The island was originally built in the 1960’s for mining Aegonite sand. MSC spent 200 million rehabilitating the island. 7,500 tons of scrap metal was removed, and 75,000 plants and shrubs were brought in. The island officially opened December 5, 2019, for its first ship. Every day of our 11-night cruise vacation we have had gorgeous weather We went out and explored their island real early. We sat on the beach for a while. It was cool with the winds blowing. The shops on the island had really nice items but were expensive.
The rest rooms were very clean.
The vegetation was so gorgeous. Don’t these flowers look fake.
We were back on the ship by 11:30am. Steve did the water slide and did a video of it. He absolutely loved it. The first attempt he sat down and had to push himself all the way through. The second time he laid down and flew down it.
Slide assistant Stephen was one of the many outstanding employees we met this trip. He is from Kenya and has been on the ship 8 months. This is his first cruise contract. He helped clean the ship up and get it back into the tiptop clean ship it is after the covid stagnant days. He told us that employees get time off today and are able to get off the ship since it is their private island.
The Ship was empty and really nice by the bar and infinity pool. The live cactus plants are a great idea. Look nice, don’t take a lot of care, and guests will not be breaking off the plants.
We heard banging this morning from our room. We didn’t realize that our room was right under the main pool. They were working on the pool today. Maintenance work is a constant on a cruise ship.
Hey, we ended the cruise with more money than we spent in the casino. Woohoo!
I won’t miss the desserts; I need to move away from eating them. They are lovely to look at – Look how artistic they are. Another piece of art. Reminds me of a Panda Bear. I will miss nighttime meals bring served to me.
We stayed at Ocean Cay to watch the light house show. It was beautiful! The video just does not capture it from the dining room.
Our luggage tags are attached to a butterfly. I guess we are flying away tomorrow onto land like a butterfly set free.

Today’s product recommendation is for the Rev-A-Shelf. I love this for my pots, pans and lids. The one we recently installed is the 21 inches with a spot on the top shelf for the lids.
