Living the Dream – Year 2, Day 156

Living the Dream” – Day 13 of our 1/2 world trip aka Year 2, Day 156, Friday, September 30, 2022. Boarding the Ovation of the Seas in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I love Vancouver, it is the nicest city I have ever been to. Last night, we had dinner at a restaurant connected to the Hampton Inn and Suites downtown. The food was fantastic, and the server was great. One of the best dinners we have had. We then walked around the city. Everyone is so nice. What a beautiful city. I love it here. Our room overlooked the BC Place which is the home of the Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club. They are a Canadian professional soccer team based in Vancouver. They compete in Major League Soccer as a member club of the league’s Western Conference. It is so funny though. In order to use the elevator, you have to scan your room key. Do you know how many times we forgot to scan the key and just stood in the elevator not going anywhere. That is definitely something we will laugh about for a long time. In the morning after breakfast our uber driver informs us that it is quiet in the city today because it is a holiday. It is the annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.
The day is meant to bring awareness and reflection on the legacy of Canada’s residential school system, which aimed to erase the languages and cultures of the Indigenous peoples of this land. The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation is a statutory holiday for federal government workers and federally regulated industries, but it is not a statutory holiday in Ontario. Quickly we arrive at the Port of Vancouver Canadian Place Cruise Terminal and are waiting to check in. Everyone must wear a mask in the port buildings, but everyone in here is covid negative tested within the last two days. There are lots of little kids waiting in line and they are not happy. The boarding process is kind of messed up today. The ship’s manifest has been lost. Wow interesting. We board Ovation of the Seas around 11:45. This ship is almost exactly like the Quantum of the Seas which we took to Alaska. We ate dinner overlooking the water as we travel back to Seattle.

Today’s product recommendations are traveling essentials.                                                    1) Luggage hand cart – we love this cart for easy rolling for easy cruise carry-on bags.  Even when you can’t go to your room right away this is so easy to walk around the ship with.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3s37EOw

2) This large toiletry bag is the best.  Steve has the black and I have the pink.  We both absolutely love them.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3v1p6ok and picture
