Living the Dream – Year 2, Day 1

Sunday, 5/1/2022. We spent the night at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tifton, Georgia.

This is a really nice newer hotel. The beds are super comfortable. We have spent a lot of nights in this hotel previously, but this time our room was different. It was small and only had one nightstand. After breakfast,

We packed up the car

and headed down the highway. We are traveling mostly on I75 today. We are heading to the Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The Georgia highway patrol is very busy making money today. Numerous cars are pulled over this morning getting tickets. There are more police along the side of the highway in Florida.

By 9:30am, we are in Florida.

Just reading about more cruiseline sailing changes thar Royal Caribbean is making. POLICY CHANGE FOR INFANTS sailing on royal – if there is a stop in CocoCay, St.Kitt, Nevis, then that’s considered a “sea day” and if there are 3 or more consecutive Sea Days in a row, the minimum age to cruise becomes 12 months.

INFANT POLICY

Infants sailing on a cruise must be at least 6 months old as of the first day of the cruise and/or CruiseTour. HOWEVER: For transatlantic, transpacific, Hawaii, select South American and other selected cruises and/or CruiseTours, the infant must be at least 12 months old as of the first day of the cruise/CruiseTour. For the purposes of this policy, any cruise that has 3 or more days consecutive at sea will require infants to be 12 months old on the first day of the cruise/CruiseTour.

Stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay and Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis, are considered sea days under this policy. Therefore, as an example, an itinerary with a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay followed (or preceded) by two consecutive days at sea, or a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay between days at sea, actually is considered to have three consecutive days at sea.

Please be aware that guests travelling with a young infant that does not meet the infant policy will be denied boarding. No refunds or other compensation shall be due from the cruise line to anyone as a result of the denial of boarding to an underage infant or other accompanying guests.”

We stopped at I75 Paynes Prarie rest area.

We found a mercury dime(must be good luck) in the parking lot.

Then we walked the snake wall. Wonder what they keep in the fenced in area or are they keeping something out. Kind of scary the gate is open. This was alongside the snake wall walkway.

There was a nice view from the end of the Snake Wall.

Accirding to signs, there are lots of poisonous snakes around.

About 58 miles northwest of Orlando you will drive by The Villages community. It is is certainly growing. You can see the development for miles. People age 55 and older are flocking to this area. It is commonly called “Florida’s friendliest town”. The population is currently about 80,000 with 75% of the residents being married. The community takes up about 31 square miles. According to FBI reports the crime rate is much lower than the rest of Florida. The community is known for the longest golf cart parades and has appeared in the guiness book of world records because if them.

Can you guess from the picture where we ate dinner?

It was an Olive Garden night. Really good, but lots of calories.

Today’s product recommendations are traveling essentials.                                                    1) Luggage hand cart – we love this cart for easy rolling for easy cruise carry-on bags.  Even when you can’t go to your room right away this is so easy to walk around the ship with.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3s37EOw

2) This large toiletry bag is the best.  Steve has the black and I have the pink.  We both absolutely love them.  Here’s the link https://amzn.to/3v1p6ok and picture
