Living the Dream Day 171

Monday, October 18, 2021 – Today started out really cool, but ended up beautiful. It went from 40 degrees to 71 degrees. Great end to the day. Look at the dry corn stalks around us. Fall is here!

It is wonderful to be able to walk the stairs. Makes working on the different levels much easier.

Worked on the plumbing in the kitchen peninsula for some of the day.

But a lot of the day was spent working on the deck. Glorious day to work outside.

By the end of the day the deck is all screwed to the house and the decking is screwed down.

You can dance on the decking!!

Tomorrow we will start the deck stairs and railing. Here’s a picture of the inside ceiling of the lower level with the plumbing pipes showing. Look closely at the below image and you can see the bolts holding the deck to the house.

It is very important to securely screw and bolt the deck to the house. Most deck collapses are because the deck pulled away from the house with the weight of the load.

Of course, we ended our day at Lowes for some more treated wood to finish the deck.

We also picked up some light fixtures. Two sconces for going up the stairway wall to the upper level,

and the outside back door light.

Today’s product recommendations are for keeping aware of your surroundings: 1) Love this indoor outdoor thermometer, and 2) We own and love this five camera Blink Outdoor camera system with the Echo Show. Here’s the links to these products:
