Day 85 – Living the Dream.
I am very tired of sleeping on an airbed in a cabin. I was up in the middle of the night last night, just wanting to go sit in a nice comfy living room, on a sofa or chair, drinking a hot cup of tea and relaxing. Awe – dreaming of that day! It will come soon.
Got up this morning at 6am, threw on some clothes, and opened the cabin door to go make some coffee at the old house. A huge bird flew by me, went half way across the yard, turned around, and flew back at me. Scared me to death. I was not expecting something to wiz by my head. Not sure what kind of bird it was. It was still dark and I was really half asleep. Wish I had gotten a picture. I think it was sitting on top of our cabin. Going to set an outside security camera up to see if it comes back If it sits on the top of the cabin, I will be able to get a picture. In the daytime, I sit in the old house with the door open working on the computer. Birds fly in and out of the house all day long, but they are little. They startle me sometimes, but not like that big bird.
Today was a partial day off. We will not be taking the day off tomorrow. We are getting a Lowe’s delivery tomorrow and need Justin here to help hoist the cast iron bathroom stuff up to the second floor.
We went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and saw some really nice old Ford trucks lined up in the parking lot. This weekend is a Somernites Cruise weekend (Somernites Cruise – The Official Car Cruise Capital of Kentucky). Town was super busy with lots of tourists, motorhomes, huge boats, and weird vehicles. One day after we have the house completed we will attend some of the events in town on one of the Cruise weekends. Currently a day off is not really a day off. Have to head back and do some clean up.

Today, I am done feeling sorry for myself and I adjusted my attitude. Okay, so I was hacked on Facebook twice and I actually think my third one is compromised also. I lost 43 days of my journal, “Living the Dream” – Boohoo!! I am letting it go and moving on. I will try to duplicate the days from pictures, but you can’t get back the feelings from those days. With that said, I am moving on and starting renewed. As my friend Ann would say, “Dolores put your big girl panties on and move on”. Thank you Ann for that advice. Learned my lesson though, which I already should have known. Don’t keep stuff on Facebook, BACK IT UP if it is important to you. Someone will always steal your dream!
Came home after breakfast out and Steve worked on backfilling around the front of the house and the side.

Really nice, you now can step into the basement window easily and get on the ladder.

It was cumbersome to move the dirt around between the new and old house. The excavator is to big to drive between them.

Steve used the bucket to move the dirt in that spot and kept hitting the gutter on the old house. Whew, thank goodness the old house is still standing.

More dirt needs to be brought around from the back to the front. Ground needs to be brought up another foot.

I was the cleaning crew and picked up all the pieces of wood and garbage on the first floor this afternoon. It was getting kind of messy.

After it was all clean I just had to sit in the first floor bedroom. Can’t wait to have a real bedroom.

Steve continues to lose weight. His new shorts are already to big. He could not fit between the studs when we started and now he has plenty of room. He no longer has to walk around a wall.

Steve decided he would cut the lawn while I was cooking dinner and didn’t move the fresh water hose connected to the cabin. Apparently lawn mower blades cut through hose. So off to Lowes to buy the last potable water hose they had and picked up more wood to finish the dog house dormers. Even in the evening the town was busy. People were lined up as old and weird vehicles cruised the strip.

Today’s product recommendations are for bug bites: 1) I have personally not tried these bee sting sticks yet, but am ordering because everyone says they work great, and 2) La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5. This cream is the best ever. I would never be without this in my house. Can be used on any skin irritation. Recommended by my dermatologist after Mohs surgery. Here’s the links to these products:
