Year 5, Day 266 “Living the Dream”. Wednesday, 1/21/2026, Day 16 of 22 day California Zephyr cross country trip, followed by a California coastal drive, and then a 14 night Mexico Cruise – Day 6 of 5 night Cabo Overnight Cruise from Los Angeles on Quantum of the Sea – Day 1 of 6 night Cabo overnight and Ensenada Cruise from Los Angeles on Quantum of the seas – Back 2 Back day. Packed up our luggage. We are moving to another room. The stateroom attendant will move everything. Anything hanging in the closet does not have to be packed. At 8:30am we are sitting in the Music Hall on deck 4. They have no coffee or continental items available in the back 2 back waiting area this time. There are 125 Back to backers. At 9am we have our new room key. We are waiting to walk out through customs. Then, we will be back on the ship.

Sitting and waiting for our check out and check in provides a perfect opportunity. It’s the right time to review the five night cruise. So here goes:
Five night Cabo Overnight Cruise from Los Angeles on Quantum of the Seas January 16 – January 21, 2026 review
Back to back – check in was excellent. We were able to go directly to our room. The back to back lunch was good. Nice menu.
Stateroom – 11134 was a nice balcony stateroom. Very clean with a good forward port location.
Dining room – 5pm main seating was excellent. We were in the Grande Restaurant on deck 3. The three Quantum class ships have four main dining rooms not one big main dining room. (They are the only class to have this main dining room set up. When this main dining room arrangement came out. At dinner you used to rotate through each of the four different dining rooms. A different one every night. Your servers came with you each night. We did one cruise like that. It was a disaster. They changed back to the regular dining fairly quickly. This changed with the next class of ships built, the Quantum Ultra. With the Quantum Ultra class the the large main dining room is back.) Wonderful service. Food was good. The servers basically danced or sang every night. Tried to have lunch in the dining room one day. They wanted to sit us in a table in a dark corner. Would not let us sit anywhere else so we left
Casino: Was very busy. Payouts were excellent. You could play a long time with your money. Was not that smoky, but it was really loud. It was actually so loud sometimes that we had to leave.
Ports: We visited Cabo San Lucas, Mexico overnight. The weather there was perfect. It is a a tender port. We did a whale watch excursion through Royal Caribbean. It was excellent. It was the perfect time to see a lot of Humpback whales. The port is very busy.
Sorrentos pizza – The absolutely worse pizza ever. It was dried out and over cooked. Disgusting. It is unbelievable they would serve it to anyone. Ours went in the garbage. All sitting waiting to be served should have gone in the garbage also.
Internet – Worked very well.
Crown Lounge: Excellent specialty coffee. Nice assortment of hot and cold appetizers in the evenings.
Windjammer: Nimo remembered us every time we went in. Nice assortment of food. Was not that crowded if you sat towards the back.
We walked off the ship through facial recognition. Then we sat a few minutes in the Port waiting for the ship to be empty. It was a long walk on and off the ship. Back on the ship we went directly to our new room. We are now in aft starboard balcony stateroom 10628. Our room is next to a lot of suites with doorbells and huge balconies. This balcony is not as private since the suite balcony next door is on an angle. Video will follow in the next few days.

Went to the consecutive cruisers lunch in Chic restaurant. Same menu as last time. Excellent split pea soup.

Rest of the day unpacked and wandered the ship.

Had dinner with our new Canadian friends. We have been having dinner with the same couple since we boarded the ship. In fact Dalene and Ron will be staying on the ship even when we depart from this cruise.

Then a little casino time. Time goes one hour ahead tonight.

Tender tickets available tomorrow for Cabo San Lucas. Mexico.

Here’s pictures of all that paper information in your room on boarding day.
